Is there some sort of trick to putting your emblems back on?

So I peeled off my emblems this week and shot them with some black paint. They came out good and all -- but is there some sort of trick to applying the double sided tape to get them back on. Like..do you just cut it into small pieces for the back of the emblem? Seems like it is a bit of a PIA to cut and apply.

This is me wishing they sold double sided tape specifically in the shape of each car emblems. I'd buy it.

Oh, one other question: Has anybody put the Axela badge where the Mazda badge usually goes? If so, does it fit well just over the holes from the Mazda badge?

At first i had some 3M double stick tape that worked somewhat. The tape was to thick so it would show between the emblems.

Right now i had to give a update paint job on the trunk emblems, so this time i just popped them off and painted and then popped them back on without any tape. If you have the alignment pins still on i wouldn't worry about it. Mine are on there pretty good without the need of tape.

If you don't have alignment pins on the emblems, good luck. I tried using the tape and it didn't stick to well on it's on. That may be because the tape was old i guess.

I see that this original post was from last month, but figure i'd throw in my 2 cents.

You can either use 3m double adhesive and cut it into small pieces like you said (i used some double adhesive tape that loctite makes, worked great) or you can use clear RTV silicone.

As you can see in my sig, I put my axela badge where the mazda badge went. It fits perfectly over the holes if you position it right.

Sorry off topic, tschatzinger, is that the I-Spec Spoiler I see on your car? PM me, I have other questions too, about the Angry M, how and what paint and all. Thanks man.

I've always been told 3M double, never heard the Silicone.
