From what I've read about one model in particular, it has it's own light source. One side goes over the inside of the window and passes the light through the the other which has meter that determines how much light is passing through (95%, 25% and so on). I have heard that some states have a sticker you can get through the DMV that states the tint "level" and will be filled out by the installing shop and placed on the inside of the window AFTER the tint is applied. If it can be read easily, you're cool.

Just playin'. Not all cops are dicks, either. Alot of them are actually pretty cool, if you understand what they have to deal with and show even a little respect. Their biggest problem, from what I can tell, is lawbreakers who act as though the officer is bothering THEM.

Hey Jspec I thought that the film its self has to be 50% not the total of the window and the film. So that cop may be messin with you and I think you can fight it. But anyway I am from the Cleveland area and have 35% tint on my Pro. What city did you get pulled over in?

California Law states- Only windows that can be coated with "after market" tinting are those located BEHIND the drivers seat or front seat. Any tinting, regardless of how light, is illegal on front side windows, wind wings and windshield. If the back window is tinted, the vehicle must be equipped with outside mirrors on the left and right.
It sucks!! Cause it gets hot as hell here in Northern California during the summer. I had 70% tint on my fronts and got a ticket. JERKS!!!!
What really sucks is, we get people from Nevada driving through here all the time and there is not tint law for Nevada.

Aww man never go through Linndale they will pick on you for anything since its a small area they want to get people for stupid stuff to make money. Never go through at night either they followed me until I got into Cleveland then they backed off prob cuz I had my neons on.
