I for one dont shift my car like I hate it or abuse it in any way so I am not sure if they will say that had anything to do with it. Its sort of like grinding all your gears then saying there is something wrong with the tranny. If its not as wide spread as they are making it to sound then there has to be some level of abuse that was done to those few cars.
From what I read on the links they admitt to driving the cars hard but say they should hold up to it. This may be true but to what extent is the question.
I will just have to ask my dealer to see if they have any news on this and like they usaully tell me, "dont listen to all you read on the net"
We may find out the hard way or we may find out that its an isolated incident.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinions I can't fathom why you keep poo pooing this as a concern. Aren't you the least bit worried? I mean, I'm not going to stop driving my car over it but I think it needs to be investigated don't you?
This car is meant to be driven hard. The engine should not be falling out. For it to happen even to 1 person it is too much and on this board alone, it has happened to 2.
Maybe they are using the same mounts that they use in the regular 3 and they can't handle the torque. I dunno, but I would sure like them to figure it out.

No one said anything about poo pooing the problem, it just makes common sense to temper those shifts a touch. I run my car on road courses all over the Northeast (Watkins Glen last week - about 140 track miles), and shift quickly, but not abusively. So, please, imagine the forces placed on the car, and I think you will understand that a car guaranteed to stand up to that indefinetly would be so strong as to weigh 4 tons. Something designed to go fast is not necessarily designed for abusive use.
