Okay, seriously...s*** happens. I wasn't racing, and I wrecked my MSP. Do you think I did it on purpose?? Do you think I was pushing the limits?? I have been driving for almost 8 years with no accidents, no tickets, and certainly never rear ended anyone. If I didn't rear end the guy I did, I may have gone another 8. Who knows. But who the hell are you to say who's fault an accident was anyways. I don't know about you knowing how to control a "high powered car", but you've certainly got the prick part right...(upyours)

Hehe, well it was when I had my '90 Accord. First "tuned" car I had and the first car I paid for with my own cash. I loved it. The guy who I bought it from was doing SCCA with it, so he had it slammed with an intake, a radiator from a camaro(!!!), FAL fans, and a tolerable exhaust.

Anyway, so I'm driving down 183 (four lane "highway" by the mall) going about fifty in the left lane. The cop had been in front of me for a while, so I had gotten over the initial "cop anxiety" and was just driving normally. I'm passing Sonic (where I worked at the time) and look over to the right to see who's there and BAM!$#@$!#.

Seems the cop was stopping to make a U turn(?!) while I was looking over at Sonic. Apparently something was so important he had to stop in the middle of a four lane highway to make a U turn for with no indication previous to doing so. That's not just my story either, as a few witnesses wrote narratives describing the quickness of the stopping.

So it turns out that my car barely scratches his perfectly white Crown Vic and ends up pushing the radiator back up into the motor, leading to a totalled honda accord.

I go inside of Sonic crying so I can call my Mom and it turns out that I was supposed to be at work that day, too. SO I end up with no car and no job. That sucked.

Now a friend of our family gave me a 78 Ford Fairmont that is sitting out front without a working tranny.

I WANT MY MAZDASPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks greg. i am really happy we have alot of really cool people on this board for support. theres always gonna be a jagoff here or there, but for the majority, you guys are the best.

Yeah they found mine as a "regular" Protege I even told them, "I have a MAZDA SPEED protege." But they didnt seem to care. My insurance is the same on the MSP as my wife's PR5.
In other words its cheap.

I would be sick if I hurt my car...It may not be a hotrod but it sure is nice and when it has 215 WHP it will wake up a few v8 chodes.
It wont be a rocket but they will have to try a little harder to beat little Mr Mazda Speed.

it's the same as the Spec Vs...but the spec v's can take crashes...which is nice to know, side impact airbags, and a high safety rating that's above the protege (even w/o side impact airbags) http://ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10602 just look at that link (it's a civic forum...but a bad spec crash, where everyone lived *phew)

but yea...alot of spec's have gotten into accidents. Even one fatal one, where the passenger wasn't wearing any seat belts, on a wet day, and the stock spec v tires don't stick on anything, they don't grip decently even on dry pavement (better than all seasons, but bad for "performance summer tires") rain is their worst enemy.

It's looking like just a bad year for sport compacts :/ But it seems to be more like drivers not being careful, (younger ones espically) who think they're driving the fastest/best handling car in the world when it's nothing but a souped up econobox.

Personally I expect to see alot of neon SRT-4s to be crashed, since people will get into them, and think their car is faster than anything out there -.-;.

I'm not saying that's what happened to you...but alot of times that's what happens.

If your car is beyond repair, maybe you guys should open up a page like the sentra crew has, a graveyard page for all the b15 sentras, with pics.

Sometimes things are just outta your control, and it sucks, mostly old people...they just can't drive...some old lady ran through a stop sign, and almost nailed me on the first day I had my car, luckly I breaked (and I also stalled) and her mirror was like right above my bumper as she passed seeming that she didn't see anything. (this was at a mall, where incomming traffic doesn't have a stop sign, so we get right of way, it's a 4 way intersection with a 3 way stop) everyone was like honking their horn at the lady, and she just kept on driving, stupid old lady and her neon.

Wow did this thread blow up. Like I said before wasn't trying to start a war just found it interesting at how many accidents they were getting in, fault of driver or not.

BTW when I went to the storage lot to pick up my moms car after they found it from being stolen, there were 3 proteges back there and not a single one was identifieable except for the badges. There was even a 2003 Denali with 23" chromes totaled with blood all over the inside. This thing was so messed up that the wheels (5 spokes ) were broken to the point just the centers were attached to the car.

Accidents are horrible but just remember this. Any accident you can walk away from is not that bad. Even if the car is totaled. And as much as I hate to say it a car is replaceable. A person is not!

Thats why they call them accidents, yes alot of times a accident accures due to driver error, but all in all its a accident ppl freeze u dont know what to do. Even if you been through some kinda driving school it wont ever prepare you for when it really happens.

I expect to see alot of SRT neons wrecked as well. The wreck that totaled my 94 wasn't that bad, no lives lost and I got what I paid for the car from insurance minus a set of rims I had only had that car for a year.

yea and about people taking the car to extreme..... the car handles good but its no damn ferrari... also the suspension may be top notch in any car but its the rubber that contacts the road... factor in the pavement and tire conditions you can only go so fast before it loses adhesion..... and also the uninevitable oil slicks, sand, and trash on the roads. i know cuz i lost my old 626 cuz i forgot about that..... pics if anyone wants to see are here http://mazdadesign.net/Owners Gallery/626-3.htm

I think this is easier to explain this way...

The Mazdaspeeds are faster than the MP3 and the Sedans and Wagons. So its easier to have an accident in those cars. For the power that is giving you have to be more careful driving a MS than the P5, Sedan or MP3.
