is the mazdaspeed muffler for the P5 worth it.

I have a fresh lovely MS axleback sitting at the house. Thought I wanted to tone down my exhaust and bought it. Currently have OBX hdr, 2.25" hi flo catted flex fitted midpipe, 2.25" ss resonated piping & Magnaflow 5x8 oval muffler with angle cut doublewall tip. It is mostly low rumble and only a bit of rasp over 4k if you hit on it idling. Driving is not dronish on frwy but you definitely know it's there throughout rpm range. Car is sportauto with 95k on it and still will pull 30+ mpg if kept at 70mph or less. Not sure how funneling down the axleback to 2" is gonna sound and affect mpg's. Car is lowered too and have had round muffler before the oval one and would scrape on occassion. I do have a cool shop that could step down the piping and add the 2" flange to bolt it up but still on the fence about even using the MS axleback at this point.

And how does that sound, that what I wanted to do but just eneded up get the stock mid pipe. Can u post up a vid of your sound clip.

I asked for this video like 16 days ago not now, jk. Thanks man, that is a big difference from both muffler. So what are your final thoughts.

@6:24 - A stop sign is not a suggestion! (whistle)

Seriously, though, I'm digging the MSP axleback. Wondering how much of a gain over stock there is and whether it's worth the tradeoff for the louder volume. I'm okay with loud but I live in an apartment complex and I'm considerate of my neighbors, lol.

Are you telling me right turn on red does not apply to stop signs also ? The car is a lot more comfortable to drive around town on the audible side, I use to have to press the clutch in when I passed a cop. The N1 also had more of a deafening drone when driving highway speeds to where you would have to adjust speed to control the sound. The MS axleback is pretty mellow I feel more comfortable sneaking out of work early now. The mazdaspeed has a nice tone it does not sound like a truck roaring down the road or a sports bike speeding away, and cabin noise is bearable and its easy to talk over the sound. Even my stock radio with only front speakers sounds better. All in all with the exhaust and install I am out about $125. No more coffee can remarks and the rear looks a lot cleaner can't beat that.

Yes, yes I am. Heck, even with a right-turn-on-red, you still have to come to a complete stop. A right-turn-on-red is, for all intents and purposes, a stop sign.

Maybe your state does it differently, but I've gotten ticketed a few times in MO for rolling stops like that. I'm just tryin to look out for ya. :p

In FL, you technically have to come to a complete stop at red lights before turning right. Red light cameras will catch rolling stops and you'll get a nice ticket in the mail :)

Back on topic...I noticed the MS tip is right up against the cutout on your P5 where the others I've seen hang down a little bit lower. Are you using different exhaust hangers?

Nah, when you live in a small town you get use to the lack of law enforcement patrolling around the outskirts of town.

I am still using the stock hangers. I did not like where the exhaust sat after the install, it was a little wop sided so I used some hose clamps over the stock hangers to tighten up and center the exhaust.

Anyone find a good price for the mazdaspeed exhaust for the P5 ?? I have seen around $150 on ebay plus $50 for shipping. anyone find it cheaper? Can mazda dealers still get them ??

Thanks

If u would get it from dealer, be prepared to pay double or even triple the amount then the ones on ebay.

is anyone selling a mazdaspeed axleback?
I could possibly be talked out of mine. Bought it but my piping is 2.25" all the way back and not thinking I want the catback to go down to 2" or have to get another flange welded on the piping so catback will bolt up right. Talk me out of it........in really good shape. PM'd pic..................
