Is the Cobb AP worth it for me?

Wow good stuff 240ka, I didn't know the MS6 AP works on the MS3. That is wierd to me. Does the AP prompt you to select which car you have (MS3/MS6)? I think there is a MS6 AP on Ebay right now I am about to check. I can't wait to see what you do at the track now!

ive never used octane booster but i wouldnt, you'll have to buy one for every tank of gas and monitor kr constantly. cant really enjoy the car that way (blowup) I got a custom tune for peace of mind. didnt cost me too much ($450) but i got a map taylored to my car specifically. gained 40whp and 55 wtq at the peaks, but my "area under the curve" is much better now and i dont have ANY boost spikes

Nice peak gains wow. Where did you get it tuned? Someone used ATR to do this for you?

a spike of 22psi is pretty high IMO. what's your fp at 7k?

also if you just loaded the map you should go easy for 100 miles or so. just to see how the car reacts at part throttle.
closed loop and open loop tables are totally different plus it needs to establish fuel trims so you dont go lean and boom

My fp, 7k?

My fuel pressure is nearly 1800psi. I've seen as high as 1781psi.

But I've put around 90-100 miles on it

I had a protune shop do the tune for me. Automaster AMR. There in the NYC area so it was close for me. I wouldnt trust someone that i dont know to tune for me as i have no idea of there experience. i suppose you could do this with ATR but i personally dont like the idea of modifying parameters and then testing them out on my own car to see if it works. Would much rather have a professional do it for me.

I meant what is your fuel pressure at 7000rpm. When i first flashed my car i had some weird readings for a while, 700psi, but after the car learned it never came back. Im just curious how the stock pump holds up at that rpm since stock they can s*** the bed at 5.5k rpm

As for the AP for the ms6, all you have to do is update the firmware from cobbs website and you should be good to go. i know ms3/ms6 aps are switchable, but i dont know about the others

Nope, it automatically loads the firmware to which ecu its plugged in. So it will say mazdaspeed 3 and show the car. But you want to make sure the ap updater has updated the AP to the latest software

Also I have zero KR. But I've seen .3 at the most twice.

I heard not to use oct booster in our cars.

I should have been able to run 13.5 with my mods before the ap. My 13.7 run was pre AP and I was shifting at 6200k losing out on a lot of power by not shifting at 5700-5800k.

But with the AP gains and your driving, 13.5-13.6 maybe possible. But I'm thinking you will need more mods.

Not sure. but beyond 6500k. It was between 1650-1700. Im glad my fuel pump is in good shape.

My buddy was seeing psi like yours. 700.-1000 but avg. 1000. He had to buy internals.

But at P/T. I'm around 1650

May I ask you- what was it specifically that made you decide to have your car professionally tuned when you were already running the stage 1 ots map?

Yea that's nice about the MS3/MS6 AP being the same basically, and only having to download the firmware. How sweet would it be if I could download a map for my car onto my friend's Civic AP for a flash one day?!? I suppose that is most likely impossible, and I will have to shell out the 500-700 this month for one of these things.

I'm going to get a protune from a shop by me. Its just to make sure I'm getting the most out of my mods but the car is still safe. That's the purpose of getting someone to tune it

Theres a bunch of guys near me that meet up every thursday, one guy is fully cobbed out (sri, tip, fmic, tbe, ap) and his car hated the maps. It just depends on the car. the ms3 is very tempermental and what works for one doesnt work for another. some guys need to get a new fuel pump the second they put an sri on, others like 240ka seem like they dont need to. it really depends on the car. i didnt want to get a dashhawk or the like as im going for a sleeper look. so to get the most out of my car safely without worrying about 10 different things constantly i decided to get a protune.

The ap marries itself to 1 car once installed, cant use 1 to flash multiple cars

Yea I was saying if I unmarried his then married it to mine just for a day for fun...but he has a Civic Si haha...I really just need to order one.

do it, as you get deeper into modding it pays for itself since you already have the maps for future mods

At this point I pretty much realize it is worth the cost. I am going to buy one soon. I am sure the positives will outweigh the negatives, especially because I am excited to monitor boost, do 0-60 tests, increase boost, remove speed limiter, rev limiter, tune my SRI, etc., etc.

I am just curious now how much faster it will make my zoom-zoom!

thats tru. i knew i needed new tires but after running this map. i need tires bad.

i was going to buy the DP next but its pointless right now. i cant get the power to the ground as is.

haha thats funny, I just bought a dp off of a member and it should be here tomorrow, along with my su mm. Luckily I've already got new tires (g-forces). Love them. Now here's the question. Should I remain in my stage 1+mscai 93 map, since I will still need the rp and cbe to be complete and run stage 2+tbe. Also 240ka how are you running up all the way to 7K. How do you change the speed limiter and rpm limiter? Also I just installed my denso spark plugs today, and my car feels solid.

which dp?

the map changes the rev limiter. it also gives you full control over the throttle plate.

i would think with a DP and the stock mid pipe. you would be fine running the stage two map. but dont quote me on that. for any tech. info. go on MSF.

i wouldnt rely on 247 for tech. info

you dont need an aftermarket CBE for stage 2 either. it say. aftermarket CBE or stock CBE

I didn't know the map changed the rev limiter. It changes it to 7k? I got the corksport dp for 200 shipped. I'm already running stage 1+mscai 93. It says on cobb that you need the full tbe to run stage 2. what sucks is they don't have a map for me exactly, I will be running the mscai and tbe eventually. damn, ima need to get a tune then.

you dont really need a TBE for stage 2, just have to watch the numbers and log the runs, look out for KR and high AFR's(lean). a lot of people get away with a racepipe instead of the Turbo back. if you dont have sufficient flow you may not hit the target boost numbers.

ya i'm going to get the rp to go with my dp, and then run stage 2. then when I get my cbe I'll get a tune just to get the most power out of my mods and keep me safe.
