Ok so here's the thing...... lately my car has been acting up weird on me.

Heres the problem:

So you guys know how we shift. meaning.... u give gas in first, then as ur letting go of the gas you hit the clutch and pop it into 2nd and let go of the clutch as your adding gas.. well something like that you know what i mean. Well recently this has been going on with all gears. When i shift, My RPMS drop reallly really slowly. do you guys know what im saying? like you kno wen you shift the rpms drop really fast and everythings normal well for me i have to wait for the rpms to drop down because it does it really slow and if i dont wait for it to drop down and shift into gear then it feels like i let go of the clutch too fast. u know that feeling? even though i dont let go of the clutch too fast. Im trying to figure out what the problem is here and wanted to see if you guys undersand what im saying?

You're likely feeling the effects of the ECU's programming to control emissions. High idle when cold will cause a delay in RPM drop. My Speed6 doesn't do it after warmup, but if there was anything awry with your emissions control, you'd get a check-engine light.

Do what I did when I had my 3i....learn to work around it. A dealership won't be able to do anything about it if a code isn't set, so my guess is that it's running like it's programmed to run.

your car sounds fine, you might want to blip your throttle up on shifts and try rev matching

i suggest boosting a small amount in every upshift during normal driving. driving without turbo seems to make a lot of people on here question whats going on with their car (mpg, cold weather, high altitude, etc) i wait until i hear the hoover vaccum intake sound, or until after it goes away during turbo spool to shift. i dont let this dinky 2.3 lug my Moosedaspeed6 around without it's turbo symbiote to help it out.

is it the rev hang your talking about? how in between shift's the rev's just kinda hang there a bit. alot of newer cars have this. and as someone said its an emissions thing. i dont like it either, frankly.

It could be the ecu controlling the revs, along with the electronic throttle. It could be something with your throttle sensor, maybe?
On a side note I think, don't quote me on this, that lighter flywheels and gear synchronizers affect the speed/movement of the rpms during shifts. My turbo Porsche has a HUGE heavy flywheel, and the rpms move down very slowly during shifts, as opposed to my past 944, that had a light weight racing flywheel, the rpms would drop quicker while shifting.

yeah, you thinks our cars are bad. drive a new civic si. i could'nt buy the thing for that exact reason.
works great for down shifting. but i heel toe every time so that dont bafront me.
listen, i jump in my 99 miata. good ol fashion, push the pedal that pulls the cable that opens the throttle bottle, and really start hatin on my speed 6's e-throttle. i guess you wouldnt notice it so much if all you drove were newer e-throttle based cars.

dude what r u talkin about

i'm talkin bout drive by wire, compared to the old throttle cable. drive-by-wire cars have rev hang. its an emission control thing i think.

rev hang! thats what you started this thread about right?
thats what i be talkin bout foo!

okay well then how the i fix this or should i just shift at 2500?

i dunno, but i dont think this is something that can be adjusted.

but then i'm just a polar bear, what do i know!~

i shift at 2900 and let it drop to 2500 rpm each shift for the smoothest acceleration i can muster, like when i'm taking my mother to the supermarket.
