is it worth it?

hey guys....
Since the Wings West Roof spoiler is not avalible, i was thinking about going my other 'small mod' route, by getting my valve cover painted. Do you guys think this is a stupid useless mod? After all under my hood is all stock.

I was thinking about painting it Spicy Orange to match my exterior. I'd had work paint work done with this bodyshop in the pass, and they match the paint 99%. So, should i get it done?
How much would you pay for something like this?

Thanks

I'm just curious...why pay someone else to do it, when you can do that yourself...Equinox posted a very detailed how-to on painting your valve cover....

I might be wrong but I don't think you will be able to color match the valve cover spicy orange. The reason is that the spicy orange is apparently a three coat paint (base coat, pearl coat, clear coat). For the valve color you will need heat resistant paint and I highly doubt you can do a heat resistant three coat paint job. If you don't use heat resistant paint it will most likely peel off.

If you ever find a way to do it, I think it would look very nice!

Actually the Orange is a "mica", not a true pearl, so there's a higher possibility of finding a shop that can mix that up. I've already called some places around here just to see if they could, but they're going to check in to the color code and get back to me. I'm sure there's a way to make it in a heat resistant base...

Dude...Don't Do It...It wont' Look Right...Your better off doing it black!!!

And t3ase has a very valid point about being heat resistant...Not to mention..if you wanna do you tubes or anything else...it's going to be very hard to get that color!!

Stick with black...i think it will work nicley...

But that's just my opinoin!!

Hey..thanks for the info. I almost forgot that i need to use heat resistant paint. The reason why i would pay someone to do it, is because i don't think any paint that i can buy outside will match my exterior. Plus, even if the paint doesn't match 100%, it's ok because it's under the hood and i don't normally open my hood often.
I don't believe our valuve covers get that HOT, does it?
it's a plastic add on piece, not a aluminum valve cover.

Even though it is plastic, there will still be an immense amount of heat trapped under the hood. Better safe than sorry, yanno?

You will DEFINETLY NEED HEAT RESISTANT PAINt...Otherwise it will start peeling...and it won't look good at all...THat the thing about trying things out before you actually do it....
