Is it worth installing a hood yourself? Is it hard?

I have done numerous searches and i could not find anything related to installing a hood.

I just purchased the VIS CF evo hood and would like to know if it is difficult to install?

Should a have a pro di it.

I have expierience with alot of motor work and that stuff but I have never removed and replaced a hood...

Is the windshield nozzels hard to remove?

I know crabon fiber is super light and if the air gets caught under it too much at high speed it can blow off if you do not use pins.

Should I have a pro do it or can it be done by me and a friend?

All i have to say it that if you cant swap a hood...then you also need to stay the hell out from under it!

yes its easy, however instead of mentioning how if, primitive animals can do it, you can i got lil bits of advice that might help. Because Hood pind CAN be hard to install, the idea is easy, but for someone thats never done it, might be hard to get them straight. Definately take your time. Swapping the hood itself is easy, 4 bolts and the washer nozzles. (have a friend help with carrying the hood its easier), you may notice when you install it, it might be bowed from the sides, you just have to adjust your hood stops (the round black thingies in the front of the engine bay and rear), they can help you finely adjust it, you might not need it, i did on my other car. And for hood pins, id reccomend it, some here say the flopping on the highway doesnt bother them, but thats not good enough for me. But, id install em, the best way, that i did, was to install the pins first (so they are tight and supported) then mark the tops with a paint marker and shut the hood, so now u got 2 marks on the hood where the holes are to be drilled (youd be amazed how hard it can be to eyeball hoodpin holes). so on a scale of 1-5 its about a 3 with hood pins, a 1 otherwise. just take your time on the pins.

I'm a girl and I did the hood swap in about a 5 min time period, and that included taking the stock hood into the house and bringing the CF one out lol. Its really simple as others have stated.

hood pins look real nice on carbon fiber. Its classy because people know that you are doing stuff the right way. Besides, do you want to shatter 500-700 dollars on the highway?

Damn.....a girl did it in five mins.....it took me 10 at work today......

I guess you'll love to see your hood fly off when doing 100 mph.
All I know is it better not fly off...I got the WW hood and it specifically states "NO HOOD PINS REQUIRED".It fly's off and they will get a nice little call from me!
And on a side note...It held pretty good last night at 125MPH.I duuno, but i don't think its comin loose.

Don't the CF hoods have a place for the stock latch?
Yes they bolt on and latch like stock.People are just worried that the latch will give way from the hood and the hood will go flying.People on this board are waaaaayyyyy toooo paranoid about things.

So how is this different from the stock hood? I have yet to hear of one flying up. Paranoid is right.

really, why would the latch give when the hood is lighter? but yeah your stock latch ad stricker should be fine.

I'd rather be paranoid than sorry. Hood pins are cheap and they look good also. Many things are not supposed to happen but they do anyways.

Because it will separate from the hood.

so then the hood is a piece of junk? so in a way you are paying to downgrade your hood...maybe its because i dont like cf. also those tips the guy gave are good.
