Is it too late to try to get one???

I am about to sell my pgt to get 5k to put down on a mazdaspeed protege. One thing though, i havent gone to a dealer yet and will do so tomorrow, ive emailed all local mazdaspeed referred dealers from the website (mazdausa.com) Is it absolutely too late to get one? How much must i put down and does anybody have a clue when these will come out and how much insurance might be for 18/m with a perfectly clean slate?

I don't know if its to late to get one in general, but I think it'll be very hard if possible to get an orange one.

You should be able to get a black one, it shouldnt be too late. Just dont count on getting an orange one, me and another buyer put desposits on those within the day the dealer called us.

i definitely dont think its too late to get one, where are you located? ppl on here might have specific info about which dealers are selling for MSRP and which are selling for more in your area

In canada, i don't think it's too late...This is just a guess..
But it doesn't seem to be selling a fast as they are going in the States. But who knows?

The best thing for you is to just shop around the dealers and see who is selling them and ask them if they are still taking deposits or not. If they are the deposit amount can vary from $0 to $1000...depends on the dealer. It's not too late to get one, and honestly if you want the truth some of these guys that have deposits on them....not saying anyone in particular but some may not be able to get it as far as finance is concerned.....there are always people out there that want the car but can't afford it. With 5K down and a clean slate you shouldn't have a problem getting the car. That's my suggestiong for you...

As to the insurance question, it could be interesting. I have heard from some mp3 owners (BondoBob?) whose insurance company had no idea what an MP3 was so they pay the rate for a Protege ES whereas some people pay more than what you'd pay for a base Protege. I know that my insurance company considers the P5 a "sporty car" and thus charges me $40 more a year for coverage. If your insurance company considers it a sports car you might pay up the wazoo, and being young doesn't help either. But hey, good luck!

also when is the car actually supposed to "hit the streets" i need to know so i know when to sell my current car. dont want to sell it now and have to wait a month u know, i have to be able to get to work.

The dealer here is doing the public unveiling on the 16th. Only approved dealers can carry MazdaSpeed cars and parts. If your local Mazda dealer has not been approved by HQ for this then it cannot sell the MSP.

Im going tomorrow 10/15 to put the 1000 down on one, they have a few left (orange YES!!!) so im gonna be one of the lucky peoples. WOOHOO!!!! And insurance is friggin cheap too.

My dealer has told me that they wont get one in till next week, and the first one is mine, orange it will be for me. But I am in the middle of the country so I would expect others to have them this week, if on the coasts.

Put my 1k down today. Also got to see Jeff Hass' 54k protege. This thing is freakin bad ass. sparco seats, rear custom sparco seats, 20k sound system, custom turbo, and everything is blingy under the hood, volk wheels, 4 piston calipers and HUGE rotors, and fiberblassed trunk/subs/amps, roll cage, the works, this car was awesome. Also he had an rx7 with 3000 origional miles on it which is on ebay for i believe 33k. Both are beautiful cars.
