to flip the pocket over (to where the little door opens up wards) and drop the headunit down to the second slot.

I thought about doing that with mine, cause the Pioneer deck I have has a flip down face that partially blocks the pocket. The depths of the two sections are close, if not exact. It shouldn't be a problem. I've did it on one of my old cars...It was just a matter of undoing a bracket that holds the deck to the pocket, and switching them.
