I just talked to Ion about the exhaust, I was asking him if he had a cat-back exhaust that will bolt up to the racingmazda header, this is what he said,
"Hi there Anthony, if the header ends at the same spot as where the 2nd cat would end on your car (as well as have the correct flange clocking) then it will fit just fine.
All of our exhausts are made of T304SS. The ones for the P5 & MP3 are available in either 2.25 piping or 2.5 piping. You have 3 choices of acoustic preferences (quiet, medium or loud). As well the tip styles are single 3.5 or 4 tip.
Unfortunately we dont have any dyno runs on a MP3, however when we did the testing on a P5 we were able to get ~10whp and 7lb-ft torque for peak gains. There were no losses this is for the 2.25 piping."
What confused me at first he talked about a sound preference, but this is what he had to say
"As for the exhaust system. The sound is changed by the type and amount of material used in the resonator as well as rear muffler. There's no difference in performance other then that the quiet system weighs in a little more then the loud.
The cost of the system with your choice of acoustic preference & size of tip w/ 2.25"piping shipped to your door will run: $699US (for payment via MO).
If you're looking to maximize your performance now, then go with 2.25" piping. This is b/c when you go turbo, you'll be selling off all your N/A parts anyways.
Best Regards,
Jack"
