Interior Squeak / Rattle Discussion Thread

Loud RATTLE at idle. its comming from the passanger side door though. i took off the panel thinkin it was the door lock rattling but that was stil in place, i have no clue what it is!!!

I have the auto dim mirror rattle much like everyone else, along with the left steering wheel control making noise. But the roads are so "smooth" around here, I'm not going to bother fixing them now, cause there will be 6 more next month.

Seem to have a rear deck or trunk rattle now.. I checked the bose emblem and its intact..

I had the rear deck looked at, and instead of replacing the child seat tethers which wouldn't stay put when the windows were down, they replaced the entire rear deck. Ever since then, it sounds like they left a screw under it and it sits near the sub. I've just been too lazy to pull the deck and check out what they did.

Anyone have suggestions for the windshield creak? Mine is annoying as hell, and by far the biggest pain in the ass in my car right now. It just started happening about a month ago.

Ugh....we just got our winter cold snap here in St. Louis and I have an AWFUL creaking noise at the rear deck whenever I accelerate/decelerate/turn/blink funny.

Is that something that you could bring into a dealer and get fixed under warranty?

dyam, our cars dont handle the cold too well.

1- even california winters, my car developed the center console creak, i put my finger in the CD slot, and it stops... some part of the trim is loose i assume.

2- and a strange problem, my center console display doesnt turn on when its too cold, it will only turn on when the car warms up a bit. not too mention, every time this happens the clock loses track of time and appears with a totally random hour. WTF?!? anyone else?

That sounds like a cable is losing a connection in the cold, might be worth opening the dash up and making sure everything is connected properly and checking out the wires.

yay i figured it was something like that.
Like the slight warmth change makes the metal connection expand JUST enough to make the connection and turn on... weird eh?

i havent seen any other person report an issue like this.
Prolly pop open the dash this weekend after snowboarding. Tomorrow morning 5am, will see if it does that agian, haha.

ok so this past saturday 5am. 38 degrees outside. frost covering the car, and yet the display turned right on with the car this time! i cant recreate this problem lately.

so i felt lazy and decided to forego popping it open to look.
here's hoping it doesnt come back.
Also, that "BOSE" logo on the rear deck sub grill is annoying the hell outta me!! rattles like mad.

The passenger side air vent fan has started to scrape as it revolves. It goes away after the heat has been on for a few minutes and everything is warmed up.

I think the rattle on the driver side you guys maybe having is actually the little compartment door. Mine has been rattling like crazy and I can't get it to stop. I didn't notice it til I opened it one day and forgot to close it. I closed it and it still rattles like crazy. I am about to rip that thing off lol

My trunk rattles, I think..I'm not too sure, as it's been too freaking cold to go outside normally and check.

And speaking of that, I'm in North Dakota, and my car is doing alright, but one can definitely see a difference when starting a car at 20 degrees and at -20. I think the LCD in the center console freezes at a certain temperature. Some pixels will illuminate while others won't. But as the car warms internally, it will fix itself.

i used to get this squeaky rattle and i found out it was ice forming in side the antenna base. i have the shark fin so i resolved my issue by putting black silicon all around the base. haven't heard it since.

I have the stupid driver's seat squeak, and it drives me nuts. Other than that, the only regular rattle I have is from my broken splash shield...I'm just too lazy and broke to replace it. Other rattles happen on occasion on cold days, but go away once the car warms up.

If anyone knows how to fix the seat squeak, I would greatly appreciate it. I took it to the dealer, but they refused to fix it, saying that interior creaks and rattles were only covered for 12 months.

Uh, bumper to bumper warranty should cover everything, excepting wear items...if you're still under that then they should be taking care of it. A squeaking seat shouldn't be a wear item. And, that 12 month line sounds like a total blow off attempt, seek out another dealer if you can (if you tell us your location people might have advice on where to go).

There is a TSB out for the seats in the Mazda 6, see here. If your car qualifies then maybe you can get them to look into it and fix the problem that way.
