Interior lighting question

I just purchased a 2014 GT with tech package a couple of weeks ago (traded in a 2011 Escape Limited) and have a question about the interior lighting. I noticed that at night when the dashboard, control panel lights, etc. light up/glow that the places on the sticks for the windshield wipers and the headlights/fog lights have no illumination whatsoever. In my Escape, wherever there was visible white marking for some control, at night there would be a slight glow to the marking so you could easily locate what you were trying to adjust. On the drivers door panel, the only mark that shows at night is a slight orange glow for the drivers side window button. Are the dark control sticks on the steering column just a feature of the Mazda CX 5 for some reason, or do I have an electrical issue in those places? I couldn't find any info on this in the owner's manual. Thanks for any help someone can give me.

The sticks are not illuminated. Nothing wrong with yours. I've honestly never noticed this as an issue. There seems to be enough normal interior light to be able to see them well enough. And before long you won't need to be able to see them in order to know where each setting is.

x2, nothing wrong with your car. I don't think I've ever seen a car with illuminated stalks like you describe. We have a 2013 Escape at work but I don't think I've ever driven it at night. I'll have to look at it a little closer.

I agree with the OP. Oddly enough, last night was the first time I noticed how hard it is to find the fog lights when it is dark out because there is no lighting on the stalk. My previous vehicles did have that lighting and it was very helpful.

Thanks everyone for your replies...as robertmazda said, eventually I will learn where everything is just by feel. At least I know now that I don't have an electrical issue.
