ALOT less heatsoak to none. and these days it's 90-something degrees outside all the time.

from what research i've done, SMICs are generally good for up to 10psi. but i guess that may be a generalization.... although i'm sure it can handle over 10psi efficiently as well, perhaps not as efficient as a big FMIC at that boost level, but it can do the job.
 
i thought blkzoomzoom said it was alot more than 1psi but i cant find the thread. something like 2 or 4. With my exhaust and fmic I went 2-3psi over stock boost.
 
I know its not really in style, but my wagner fmic kit has been doing me fine. It came w/ an SRI intake, Greddy Type-S BOV, and the intercooler. I look at it like a happy medium in both price and size in between the big bad fmics (MAM, Perrin, Hiboost) and the smics (turbohoses, custommsp's). Since I only plan on getting the unichip, I think it will be sufficient for my goals. But if I was gonna do it all over again and go the whole nine yards with forged internals blah blah blah, I'd probably opt for the MAM, strictly because of 505's success with it.
 
or you can always go custom =\

i had a 20" x 8" custom made with piping installed and everything for 1000$ CDN ... it's bigger in volume than the ION kit and Focus made ~325whp on the dyno with the ion so i don't think size is an issue. Maybe you can ask around for a custom kit ? might be cheaper
