Does anyone know where I can buy a cheap intercooler? Is there any real difference between the 2 thousand dollars ones to the couple hundred dollars ones? Can you paint like mazdaspeed on one that is just plain silver?

Yes, there is a reason that the more expensive ones are.

Bar and Plate - more efficient, more expensive, easier to customize by cutting and welding on new endtanks.

Tube and Fin - cheap.. less efficient.

1. ebay or get a SMIC upgrade(But I'm guessing you don't want that, seeing as how you asked about painting a logo on it)

2. core design plays a big part here, and you get what you pay for

Do a quick search on the forums here, a few people have pieced together front mount kits for cheap.

bar and plate is more efficient when installed in an area accessible by a direct flow of air, like in the front of the car behind a grill for example. tube and fin is more effective when installed in a location that does not get much air, such as a top mount intercooler with no ducts on the hood for example

I pieced mine together for 400 dollars.. bar and plate hiboost core with custom endtanks and piping to fit P5 radiator, HKS SSQV (was brand new) and maf relocation.

2 days later I'm still really happy with it

I thought about having the mazdaspeed logo put on fmic. but decided against it due to possible rock chips and wearing of the paint. my msp is no longer a daily so this has given me inspiration.

front mount intercooler kits for the MSP show up fairly often.
