Intake? Which one

Which one of these Intakes would you guys select? Does anyone have any experience with any of these?

Intake 1

Intake 2

Intake 3

Intake 4

For all I know these are all the same ones and maybe I should just get the cheapest. Please let me know. I am only getting one for looks but I do not want junk either.

Thanks,
JellyBean

well the only difference is the first one is not metal... i saw some guy on here w/ that... looks pretty good.. they say the plastic is pretty tough too... but you gotta try and find out... other wise the last 3 are the same...

Any one of the 4 will cost you some power.

I've done some resting at Shannonville durring some lapping days and found that using a SRI was good for about a 4km/h loss in speed at the end of the Fabi Straight and overall slower lap times. The testing was done on various sport compacts.

Yes, the SRI is less restrictive, but you're drawing in hot air, which is less dense. The lower density means the ECU will calculate that the engine requires less fuel to maintain the correct A/F ratio. Less air and less fuel means less power.

That said the plactic SRI should be the best of the 4. As it's plastic and won't conduct as much heat to the already hot air you're drawing intop the engine. You'll lose less power with the plastic one.

They will all sound equally as fast though!

How about making a heat shield...

Can you get something like a heat resistant material and wrap it around the intake tubing?? Will that help?? Don't flame me  Just a thought? lol

How do you clean those filters??

Can you clean any of the 4 intakes mentioned with K&N filter cleaner? Or does the filter have to be made of some "special" material in order to clean with K&N filter cleaner?? :)

im not sure... but i think the filters showned.... are paper filters... like the ones you can find at autozone and pepboys.... the k&n filters have a diff fabric that wont get messed up when you clean it...and recharge it...

I had one of those... worked GREAT for the price.... but NO, they are not KN... neither are injen or ractive.... aem comes w/ KN.... the others are just red dyed paper filters.

Well this is the one I decided to go with. Intake Hopefully it will be ok. Someone else on here or protegeclub.com has this one and he says he likes it so I thought I'd give it a try.

yeap... of course you can.. and yes it does help... i got my metal tubs heat wrapped... dunno what the material is called.. b/c the guy had some left so i just paid and he did it up for me.. hehe... also did my on ram air w/ ducting tube from under the car to the filter so cold air is hitting the filter instead of sucking that warm air from the engine bay... since it's winter.. dunno how effective it really is... gotta wait til summer... ^^

total cost of everything is bout 150 cdn; ractive intake 100, heat wrap 30, and ducting tube is less then 20...

and i'll be getting the k&n filter once this one is trashed...

I've got the first one and It's not plastic. It's aluminum like all the others, just has a really nice coat of paint on it.

How about this one?
