intake vs warranty

i want an intake for my P5 but i bought the extended warranty with the car. does anyone have any experience with this? does it void my warranty? are there ways around it? does mazdaspeed make an intake, cause i love my ms axleback. thanks for any help you guys can give me

injen just devoloped an intake for the speed. it should be out quite soon. i got an intake in my P5. i'm not worried though cause if something were to happen and the car had to go to the dealer, i'd just switch out the aftermarket intake and put in the factory. it'll take 10 minutes tops. i also heard people say that they had their intake put on by the dealer, so.......

The only way Mazda will void your warrenty is if the the problem was caused by the aftermarket part (intake, exhaust, etc.) They must prove that the aftermarket part caused the damage etc. :D

RAAZ is correct - if your power steering fails, the intake did not "contribute" to the failure so your dealer shouldn't disregard your warranty. On the other hand, if you need repairs to some failure that might be related to the intake, then swap out the aftermarket unit with the oem before you take your car in.

thx guys. i wonder if anyone could tell me what they think of this: i was looking under my hood today and i was thinking it wouldn't be hard to just take the airbox and silencer out and slap a k&n right on where the airbox is. could this work, or is that just a stupid idea? thx for the input

yeah, many have done that, but its just the issue that the air filter will just be sucking in hot air from under your hood, however IMO, this is just as good as some of the other intakes due to the small increases that you get anywayz, intakes just seem to be for sound and style, you may not have the style with the K&N but you will deff. have the sound from my experiances
