When dynoing a car, it is more than just what it should be making. You have to take in air temps, ambient shop temps, hood open or closed, the gear its done in, etc. On an amazing day, I could see the Mazdaspeed, or any true CAI for this car for that matter, pulling out 30 at the wheels.
No, you wouldn't. Instead you'd see a negative correction factor taking into account most of those variables. Open or closed hood seems to make little difference if you have adequate cooling.
I definitely agree about bang-for-the-buck. You can definitely tell the difference. Great mod for modding newbies like me, too, b/c it's so simple it's pretty hard to screw up as long as you're careful to make sure everything is tightened up.
