Intake Air Temperature

After a recent post(http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123642610), I have been wondering if there is "Normal" intake air temperature for the MSP?

Some issues brought up on my post were that if I'm running 10 PSI boost with very few mods (K&N drop in filter and gutted cat) that the heat from the boost will blow the engine.

So is there a normal intake temp?

Also would anyone be interested in doing some testing of this? Possibly some of us could buy an IAT (intake air Temp) guage, share the cost ($300) and pass it around for testing on various different mod set ups?

There isn't a normal temp, but shooting for ambient is your best bet. With the stock sidemount you'll see IATs way over ambient. Why anyone would run more than stock boost on a sidemount for extended periods of time is beyond me.

A good intercooler will put your IAT at approximately ambient. I have logged my compressor inlet temps at 15-20*F over ambient while highway driving (intake manifold temps were ~ambient) w/ a K&N drop-in and iON FMIC.
