Is the insurance on a MSP going to be the same as the MP? Insurance is a big thing for me... important to know b/c my $500 might be going down soon!

My brother's Civic brand new under my family's rate is a good price and if anyone knows how they rate insurance could I get perhaps a comparison?

All help is greatly appreciated.

seeing as the mSP is a turbo car, I guarantee you insurance will cost significantly more than a MP

no one has gotten quotes yet. Some people say theior insurance companies cover mp3s as protege ESs, other say they are charged more for it being ltd edition......if your brother's civic is a 2dr and your insirance company doesnt consider mazdaspeed any different than a ES, then iw ould expect your insurance ot be less than his.........

Neal seems to have already gotten a quote since he said something about "insurance being soooo cheap" in another thread....

My car is indeed insured as a MP3. Was originally insured as a ES, until a few months after I bought the car, and then they figured it out. Damn! I'd say, the same thing would happen if I bought the MSP. Insurance companies won't even have a listing on it until maybe Jan 2003. Until then, I'd be insured as a MP3. Once they figure out the MSP has a Turbo, watch that puppy go up in $$$

I got a quote from Progressive & Geico (who used progressive it turned out). I did the Progressive quote online and had to choose the ES Model because they didn't have the MSP or MP3 as an option. I called Geico and spoke with a woman for the quote. I told her what the car was and she had no listing for it or the MP3 model so she just put it down as an "ES" again I think.

I guess it will end up being covered under an "ES" model. I told them what the car is it isn't my fault that their systems don't have the car in there yet. Both quotes came out around $1150 for me for a 12 month policy and paying the total premium up-front. I think it was another $150 more to finance it and they still wanted like $800 up-front so I might as well just pay the additional $350 up-front and save $150 overall.

I am 28, Male, with clean driving record, no accidents ever and no tickets on my record now.

I bet they will smarten up by next year this time and have it in their system. We all know how difficult it is to get any information on this car. It appears that the insurance industry is in the same boat for now. They probably don't even know the car exists.

Well I work for Progressive and we will most likely have a rating for it after it hits the street. As soon as we get a customer who actually has one to put on their policy your right we will have to go with the current model year info and what will happen is we will send the vehicle info to our Gm's & Marketing Dept and they will develop a specific rating for it which would then be corrected at Renewal time.

well its under my dads name, im 18 so it would be expensive even if it was a honda civic just cause im 18 u know. Basicly its gonna be 67 a month for me..., er um him. I dont know how its that cheap but hey, i dont ask.

what happened to me, was that they put the VIN number through, and eventually someone figured out that the VIN was not an ES. So they did some hunting, and voila, we have insurance as an mp3. That took about 2-3 months.

even though the mp3 is a Limited edition car and has many aftermarket parts to it - for the most part I'm sure it insures as a 4 dr sedan - I dont even think the fact that I have a mp3 has changed my rate.....Most people dont know about it.........

um yeah my dad figured that 67 a month had to be wayyyy off so he called to see what was up and its like 150 for me not 67. Kinda pissed me off but the insurance co. said that it will probably go down 15 or so when they actually get a vin #. The 15 is a high estimate. And i have absolutely NO clue how they came up with 67 a day before. Insurance companies suck ass, they suck money out of you and dont ever want to give it back, or give as little back as possible. Grrrr....

(mspo) Just wanted to use that hehe.
