instrumental lights always on when headlights are not in use

:
CX-5, fwd auto
I think the cx-5 is build this way. During the sunny days, I do not use headlights or parking lights but instrumental lights are always on in full light.
My question is this can be dimmed or turned off? If you if one can let me know will be appreciated.
Sometimes at night, I did not turn the head lights off because my instrumental lights are on thinking my headlights are also on.
I have base model automatic.
Thank you for your comments in advance.

Thank you so much. when the parking or headlights are off the instrumental light is full on and unable to adjust.
(when parking or headlights are on, I can adjust with turning the trip computer dimmer)
Any other thoughts?

Something is wrong then. Turning the trip odometer reset knob successfully dims the instrument lights on my CX-5.

If it works like the UK/Europe model then if you turn the odometer knob clockwise several clicks it will set the dash lights to max. regardless of the headlights. But if from the max. position if you turn the knob anti-clockwise (even one click) it will set the dash lights to auto-dim. Hope this sorts it.

Cool , found some very useful tips here.

how is your cx-5 doing? I have the same model on order arriving in jan.

I've Had it three months now and very pleased so far. I have been quite impressed with how agile and planted it feels on our twisty Devon roads. It has also proved to be a very comfortable motorway cruiser. The gearbox is an absolute dream and the seats are as comfortable and supportive as my last car, a SAAB 93. My wife and I both find that once behind the wheel the CX-5 feels a much more compact vehicle than you would expect. You'll need to spend quite a bit of time sitting in the car with the handbook because apart from the usual controls there are an amazing number of electronic gadgets to master.

Thanks for many comments.
My cx-5 is fantastic, I only had buzz from A pillars which was fixed by the dealer. other than that, all is working from smooth shift to no vibration of mirrors or hood, etc.
I called my dealer today and they said somethin on the left side of instrument panel I need to adjust but other than trip computer reset that dims when head lights are on, I still cannot find out what to do. i may need to go to the dealer in the next week or so they can show me what to do. I am very pleased with my cx-5.

Discovered today my comment above is wrong. With the lights off the trip knob does not dim the lights. My apologies.

No automatic lights?this is how it's supposed to work with this EL gauges. It's supposed to be bright during the day so you can see it. At night, it should dim to low levels or else it will blind you because it's too bright. Of course you can't dim it without turning on the headlights...

Sucks the base model CX-5s don't get auto headlights. Makes me even more glad I got a loaded 3 rather than a CX-5

There seems to be quite a lot of goodies left off the US and Canadian models. The entry level UK CX-5 seems to have pretty near most things as standard.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread (3 years ago) but did anyone ever find a way to dim or turn off the instrument cluster lights while the headlights are OFF?
