Installing Double DIN DVD/Navigation unit (question)

I'm highly considering installing a headunit in my car and looking at the directions at Crutchfield says that I'll lose the factory clock. Will I only lose the clock or will I also lose the rest of that display with the trip meter and thermometer and such?
