Installed Shaundarbie's Jspec shift boot

Finally got some time to install this well-made shift boot. I had ordered the leather with the grey thread. If anyone is not satisfied with the MSP OEM boot, I highly rec buying this boot instead.

The pic with the greddy counter weight shift installed makes a great desktop background.

***no warranties were voided (hopefully)***

did u have to cut the tip of the boot to make it fit over the ring? i can't even see a cut, so clean

I made a couple of tiny 2-3 mm cuts around the circle (like the oem boot). It took me about 4 tries to get the ring to sit like that. The first time I didn't have the correct glue (elmer glue) and the second and third time the ring didn't sit correctly. Finally, when I was able to give up, I got it.

Greddy shift knob

That Greddy knob is SEXY. Got a link to one :)
I got it from Apexr1.com about two weeks ago from about $45 (with shipping). Most places are usually out of stock though, so you may want to double check with them first.

About the knob. It weight about 13.8 oz (slightly under a pound) and make shifting a bit easier. Another knob I would rec would be the TWM knob (500 grams-over a pound), but I don't like the shape of it.

Crap... for some reason the boot isn't sitting right, I still get a little bit of grand canyon. Is there a way you could take a pic of how you have it attached for me Ryouga? that would be awesome...

Are you using the stock mazdaspeed shift knob? The stock msp knob sits lower than the greddy (about 1 inch) and that's why you may have some space left. When I get home later tonight, I'll take a pic of the difference.

I didn't cut or glue mine, i just held it in place while i screwed the knob down (stock p5 knob). fits great. Is that greddy knob spherical? it's beautiful.

Photo request

Because of the shift knob I had to put a rubber band to keep the boot up.

The shift is from a forum member shaundarbie. He just finished his second group buy. His next batch will be $45 for leather.

Just give him a PM.
