Walk in the park" installation with the Metra double Din installation kit, Wiring harness and antenna adapter. Nice camera backup, Bluetooth, ipod and Pandora features. Easy swap weekend project considering that last time I installed a radio in my car was in in my college year 20 years ago. You cant tell it didn't come from factory with it. Even the Metra Kit cover match the color of the surrounding plastic.

Did you know you only posted the thumbnails instead of the actual pictures?

+1! How much did this run you? I take it the only functions that you lost were the lights and things like that? Do you still have the ability to use the buttons on the steering wheel?

The existing backup camera works? And, do you need a separate mic for Bluetooth?

I think you're going to get a lot of interest and questions about this. The Sport model owners are going to see this as a relatively inexpensive way to get features similar to the Touring and GT models. Touring and GT owners like me want to know that this is possible so when technology rolls along, we can do something like this 3-5+ years from now when our OEM radios don't seem so current with features.

Thanks for sharing and please do share details. Like, do you have steering control buttons that work with this? And did you install it in a Sport or something else?

I installed the same basic unit in my CX5 too. The steering wheel controls work with this unit if you install the adapter module for that purpose. Bluetooth works very well and with Pioneer app on my iPhone I have a very good internet based GPS (MotionX) displayed on the head unit that I can use and still have music playing in the background. I am still exploring what this head unit can do. I think there is a way to get Netflix movies from the iPhone to play on it but haven't figured that out yet.

GetAttachment.webpSorry guys. I was working a lot this week and didn't have the chance to log in.
Working in getting the pictures here but the pictures keep coming back only as thumbnails and only 3 of them. I guess could be forum restrictions or its easier to install a radio than post a picture. (limb)

1. This is a 2013 CX5 Sport, automatic. She came with a simple radio/CD with no MIC or Camera from factory.
2. I got the Pioneer AVH-x5500BHS unit from Amazon $362.00. ( pay the two day delivery , its worthy). I wanted this large 7'' display that fit perfectly in the space. I also bought a $15 license plate back up camera that to my surprise it works very good and I routed the wire getting the power supply from the reverse back up light. . I may consider the pioneer camera in the future if this cheap camera does not last too much, but its $150.
3. The unit came with a MIC that let you use Bluetooth for everything and routed it next to the left front pillar. I didn't buy the steering wheel control but as mentioned above its straight forward.
4. Installation connection for the back up camera its explained by somebody in the forum already with a Very Helpful picture of which wire to tap without cutting.

Hi Jaytx, I haven't been able to find that post that shows how to route the camera wire. Did you happen to save it?
