hey i got all my guages installed, autometer pro-comp, they look ****** sweet. now i stll cant find a good spot to tap into for the water temp sender??? can someone give me some advice, i dont want to **** somethin up, thanks alot!!

the needle should sit below the 0 mark at rest, vacuum makes it do that. 5 psi sounds about right from what others have reported. as far as the water temp sender, i can't help ya there since i've never done it myself

Boost Leak

..also, my boost only reads 5 lbs??? i think the guage is off. the needle sits below the box at rest.

The gauge is probably got a leak in one of the hoses or it is kinked.

The gauge should read 20 Vac or around there at and Idol.
I Dont know what a MSP boosts to, 5 Lbs Sound weak.

Try this on for size. It should look like this at Idol.

Re: Water Sender.

I think you may have to get a seperate sending unit for that problem man. I doubt that the stock sender is geared to whichever gauge company you have chosen.

The car has a water temp gauge(huh) Why wouldn't you just not bother plugging up with semingly unneccesary(bling)

Later

because i want a more acurate temp reading, most stock senders only read: cold, warm, and you just cooked your engine. with a more acurate reading you see when the temp is rising before the stock unti would even rgister it. im just looking for a good place to tap into to install the new sender that came with the guage.

I am new here so bare with me. Your boost gauge is running at 20psi. at idle., is that dangerous. Our MSP our supposed to run at around 6.5psi. If I am wrong or confused please correct me. Thanks

You're a bit confused. He should be at 20in Hg of Vacuum at idle, and 6.9psi of boost at full boost.

"psi" is a measurement of pressure, while "in Hg" is a measurement of of Vacuum.

this thread originated in the MSP section, how it got here i dont know, i also dont see how it is appearance related being that im tryin to figure out where to tap into the engine for the temp sending unit?????????????????????/:wtf:

but gauges are appearance mods...

but i would doubt there is any serious vacuum leak (maybe a small one) if you're still getting 5psi, but if you have a boost/vac gauge the reading at idle is a good way to check. autometer's aren't known for their precision either, so it is very possible that the gauge is off a bit, but atmospheric conditions could also make it read different when not hooked up, but i doubt that much different

yeah, im not worried about the boost guage, ill probably send it back. i am most concerned about where to tap into the block for the temperature sending unit supplied with the water temp guage???

Who was the genius that moved this thread here? I guess you made the mistake of using the word "look" in your post. What happened to that mod who agreed that MSP posts should be in the MSP section?

this isn't an msp specific post, so it shouldn't be in the msp section. just because he has an msp doesn't make this post solely applicable to msp's, it would be the same on all 2000+ (or whatever) protege's, so it shouldn't be in the msp section.
it also isn't an appearance post though...

well, i really dont care where it should or shouldnt be at this point, i was just hopin omeone could help me out?
