Hey everyone,

I have just successfully installed my 2004 RX8 mirrors on my 2003 Mazda Protege 5. I spent countless hours Modifying and shaving down the Mirrors to get them to fit this was one of the biggest custom Jobs that i have done in a long time . I had to shave down everything on this to get it to fit i even had to drill new Holes into the door to bolt the Mirror onto the Door to get them to line up right and that was the hardest part. The greatest thing about it all is that the electrical wiring plugged right in to my mirror switches lol but i did have to splice in the Tweeters myself because the pins where different! I also painted them they were Stock Yellow and now i painted them Mazda Black. But im proud to say everything works like new. There's still some TLc to do but for the most part i think they look awesome. Who has done an RX8 mirror conversion on here onto a P5? I havnt scene anyone yet! Click here to check it out! ------->>>>>> (breakn)(dance)(wrc)(band)

I saw you wanted custom mirrors so bad
good job really, that must have taken alot of work and time

Good job bro! I wouldn't have had the patience lol

yeah i know what you mean man it took me alot of patience and a whole lot of grinding with the Grinder . I also had to grind the inside of the mirrors out to get the Tweeters to fit and it was quite a challenge lol! I used a magic marker and basically just kept eying out everything and Marking it with the Magic Marker and then cutting it with the Harbor freight tools grinder lol! Well hey I feel good about it now, now that it's all done!

Hey Zhy it did take alot of work and time lol ruflly i spent 2 days on and off because of the Weather, The hardest part was drilling the holes to get them to fit in right. Pheeeeew (deadhorse. Im glad that imj done with it though

Did the electrical connector fit or did you have to splice?

Hey Pkane Like i mentioned in this post The Electrical mirror connecter plugs right in but i had to splice the tweeters in myself. All that hard work paid off lol!

you did a good job fitting them. imo they dont really flow with the body lines, but what matters is that you like it!

Thanks Brian i went through World war 3 getting them to fit. Im an artist for this kind of thing so i have a knack with certain Body work and i just kept having to eye everything out with the Contours of the body lines until everything fit. I know there are some lines that arent percise but that is because they are RX8 mirrors. Well at least they fit and they come close to the lines even though there not perfect and thats what counts! =-)

Kudos for finding a new mod for the Protege, I don't think they look too bad at all.

Thanks Horns fan. If you like custom work and enjoy doing it i encourage you to buy a pair of Mazda RX8 mirrors off of E-bay but be prepared to spend the full day getting the contour lines of the mirrors to match right with the Contour lines of the car and you have to shave some of the inside of the mirror out to with a 1/4 inch drill so that you can fit the Tweeter speakers in there on each side. Hmmmmm did i mention this was going to be fun? Lol! Actually once you get them to fit right it really is fun because they look awesome and you know they didn't just line up when you first started so knowing that you did all that work in the end to get them almost 95% perfect really is the most rewarding thing!
