Installation help with FS-ZE parts

P5PCU

I just ordered the FS-ZE intake manifold, intake cam and the mazdaspeed pistons and exhaust cam. I am putting these on my protege5 but the question i have for anyone who has these on their cars is:
Do we have to reprogram the PCU (i think thats what its called on our cars), and do i have to make any changes to the timing. Corksport said just drop it in but it makes no sense to me. I would have to change the fuel curve on the computer cause there would be alot more air and more fuel going into the engine.
If anyone can please help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
and if i am missing anything please help a brotha out
thanx

how do those pistons stand up to nos?
are they forged?
i would guess your best bet is to contact racing beat and see if they have any info on how they upgraded the ECU or PCU.
are you basicly trying to do to your p5 what they did to the protege to make it a mp3 engine wise. how much did you pay for the pistons. special rings???
hope my input helps

Like any mod, tuning will help you out. The cams go in no problem, I have been told the pistons do too, dunno about the manifold. Is it the duel runner manifold? If it is, does the P5 have a duel runner stock? If not then it won't work. The VTCS system works off the PCM and switches runners at higher rpm.

On the cams, you won't have to change the timing, you can't anyway, no one makes cam gears yet :) But when gears are made I bet you can get more HP out of them by tuning the timing. The pistons are cast.

I think our cars actually run a little rich from the factory, so adding more air should lean it out a bit. You will have no problems with these mods though. Like I said, tuning will help though. Might want to think about a AFC to tune the air/fuel.

Oh yeah, computer is called PCM.

The engines in the MP3 and the Protege5 are exactly the same except that the mp3 has a reprogrammed pcm and an exhaust so anything that fits on the mp3 fits on the p5, except 4 a cat-back cause the setup may be alittle shorter or longer which really doesnt affect me right now.
I am pretty sure know that the cams and the manifold would be fine, the only thing i am worried about is the pistons.

thanx for the input and NC thanx also, i just wnated to get some input from someone who has these mods already. I am very uptight when it comes to f**kin around with this car, with my accord its no problem cause i know exactly what needs to be done but this is to new to f**k up

thanx again
