I recently bought an 05 Mz6. I plan on putting in a Pioneer D3, or possibly a Z2, or maybe the new year model as they come out depending on what I can get my hands on for the price I want.
Now, the Metra Kit as we all know is only for a single din. I've seen Mods made where the climate buttons were relocated to the Ashtray area. I'm not too keen on this...
My plan:
I Plan to relocate the Hazard to one of the "Blank spots" by the dimmer switch. The Blanks just pop out and you have a great place for a button. These buttons look VERY similar in size and shape to those of some Honda's and Toyota's. The wiring for a Hazard is extremely simple, seeing that the Metra kit allows me to fully remove it from the board.
By doing this, I should have enough room to modify the kit for a D-Din, and by doing so raise the actual monitor UP, rather than down.
My real question is can this be done to the metra kit? I have yet to see the rear side of the kit to compare it. Also, if no one has yet tried this idea with the hazard, does anyone know if my assumptions about the blanks being extremely similar to those of some Toyota/Honda's that have then in virtually the same spots?
Any thoughts?
