innovate on steering wheel column

well i got my new greddy egt gauge today, and its a beauty. planned on putting in on my steering wheel column until i saw how freakin deep it is... appears to be approx 2-3 inches deep, yikes...

so there was a change of plan... the egt is now going into my a-pillar along w/ my autometer boost guage (until i get a matching greddy boost gauge), and my innovate wb will now sit ontop of my steering wheel column.

i was wary of putting a gauge on my steering wheel column b/c i thought it woud obstruct too much of the view, but i think it came out pretty good. it only block the tripmeter, 0-140mph is still fairly visable. not only that, but now its easier to monitor my afr since it right next to my tach and speedo...what do you guys think?

you should put it in the din panel. thats what i plan on doing with mine.

i considered that, but decided against it b/c its fairly out of my line of sight when i'm driving... and i do a lot of road tuning w/ my hmicrotech, and wit the wb and tach are so close together, it makes it so much easier.

its funny how you're always one of the first to respond to my posts, haha. i guess we're the only one up this late :P

yea that is true. i like my stuf to flow so thats why i wouldnt have it there. cause it like stick out. but i do agree with it being there for road tuning. how hard was the gauge install and how long did it take

well the wb was already installed at the a-pillar so all i did was move it from there to the steering wheel column which took 30 minutes to measure, drill, and mount and another 30 to solder a couple wires. originally it took couple hours.

as far as the egt, i haven't installed it yet. i just plugged the egt gauge in the empty hole previously occupied by the wb...

i'm waiting on a manifold to be produced, so i can weld a bung do on that for the egt sensor... i'm not really lookin take off the stock mani, only to do it again in a month or so... i'm probably just gonna run the wires for power/light until then.

why not get a 626 mani from pg and weld a bung onto that. but i could be misunderstanding you

the egt has to go on the exhaust manifold... its there to measure the temperatures of the exhaust which helps monitor lean conditions as well as knock.

there are two developments in process right now for an exhaust manifold, one by focus and the other by protephile or something like that.

oh. i knew i misunderstood you cause i was trying to figure out why it would go on the intake manifold. but yea those manifolds may never get here unfortunatly. i know i want one so bad.

focus already had a prototype finished w/ pictures and all so i'm hoping that'll be available for purchase sooner than later. and i know the other, although a little behind in development than focus, is still progressing, so i'm hoping one of the two will come thru. mine has a bigass crack so i really need a new one so i'm crossing my fingers.

do you have a link to focus's because i dont think i have seen his thread yet. but i could be mistaken as seen before. cause its like 2 am here lol

I think it's in the GI section but yeah he's got a proto-type done. But then again it's just a proto so we can't get too happy yet. I hoper it goes well for him as that will go well for most of us (not me T3).
