Injen vs. K&N CAI

:
02 Red Protege5
I'm lookin to put a cold air intake system into my 02 Protege5 and i really need some help from people to tell me which you think is the better choice to go with:
Injen Cold Air Intake
or
K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake

Simota...it's cheaper ($100 shipped) and they're all just pipes and couplers anyway. Check out protephile's sale thread ("everything in this thread is in stock" is the name) and get one from him. You'll have to relocate the coolant reseviour (sp) and the solenoid valve on the stock intake pipe on your own (some of the more expensive kits come with hardware for that) but it's not too hard and it's not work the extra 100 bucks. Just my $.02.

I got the K&N Typhoon and I love it. I orginally had an eBay intake and the quality of the K&N is much better imo. They have more braces so that the pipes don't vibrate against other parts inside your engine bay. It also comes with a new brace for your coolant can and solenoid valve. Got mine for about $215 from performancepeddler.com. Hope that helps.

I'd say the difference between the Injen and the K&N are very minimal. I don't really know anything about the Fujita.

I replaced my Bomz SRI with an Injen CAI. The Bomz fit crappy- it rubbed the brake master cylinder and the upper radiator hose. The Injen fits great. I can't accurately speak about power differences.

I went with the K&N typhoon CCAI from protegegarage over Injen and simota. The quality of K&N is supreme, no fitment issues at all. Sounds really nice too, I especially love the hissing sound of air when i turn the car off. Plus you get the option of converting it to a short ram if you really want to (which should only take about 30 minutes at most)

I like my Injen. Went with the pricey brand to avoid fitment issues, rattles and other foolishness you get with cheap stuff.

However, I can vouch for Simota being quality stuff for a great price. If I could re-make my choice, I would have went with Simota, and spent the extra $100 on a rear swaybar.

injen

have the injen works well i have had many diffrent brands in my prvious, as for hp and performance i think they are all pretty close, i like the looks and no fittiment issue,, easy to install ,,

I have injen but honestly there is no difference then stock except for the noise level.

There all the same, just some piping and a cheap filter.

If you wanna do it right grab the eBay special and use the money saved to get a real filter for it, but don't expect any power gains.

i have an ebay one, with an AEM filter, i was going to buy a buddys Injen intake, sure to be a better one, it was brand new, he was getting a new car and never had this one installed.. so i put it on and found that ther was NO differance in power, hell if anything the ebay one still have low end TQ and the Injen seemed to lose its low end grunt.. pipe size might have something to do with this.. anywho i not going to spend 200 bucks for that, and sure the fitment was great, though with a little work, i mean about 3-5 adjustments the old ebay still is great and dosnt rattle. oh and i have about $80 in it all together.. thats hard to beat.. but if you have money to burn.. why not, ether way you like to sound and enjoy the car that much more.. and thats what its all about
