Injen CAI and rain?

Any one here having issues with the Injen CAI in rain condition?
I recall Redemption complaining how bad it was.
I just got mine installed and am curious. It's loud as hell but it sure makes the power band smoother with more pull it seems.
Where the filter is, it does seem to get quite a bit of air around the fog light through tthat opening. A shield directly in front of the filter might be necessary me thinks.

What issue with rain and the Injen ? IF your talking about water getting into the intake, dont drive through 2 foot puddles and you will be fine.

Has been raining a lot lately. I've had it on since March and no problems in the rain yet. Just stay away from 1' puddles.

It has been an unusual summer here in NC and it seems like we have had daily tropical storms. I've had my intake for quite some time with zero problems. Don't worry about it at all. Just don't drive into a small lake or something.

i've been thinking about putting a splash guard around the front of the filter when i install mine. i'm still thinking about it though. but to hydrolock, you basically have to submerge the filter in water. and of course that's not gonna be too much of a problem cause i always go offroading with my msp....

I drove home from Chicago to Detroit in rain on Sunday. There were some spots where it was raining HARD! and there was standing water on the road. Had no problems. I agree - stay out of deep water and you'll be fine.

Good to hear then.
Anyone checked to see the condition of the cone filter after so many miles?
Just curious if it picks up a lot of dust, bugs, and stuff.
How often should we clean/reoil it anyway?

i know the injen intake uses a k&n filter element....and according to k&n's website, the filter should be cleaned every 50,000 miles. that's sounds a bit long, but i don't know how long is too long when it comes to filters. maybe check injen's webpage too.

i have no problems with mine. been running it about 9 months now. i have the bypass and shield ( not sure i needed either) i do clean mine every few months 3-4k miles. it gets dirty, but no bad.

U do know that the bypass is STRONGLY disscouraged for any forced induction car right?...

OK, just checking....

Oh NO ,its not dis-couraged ,
IT'S AN ABSOLUTE NO-NO!
With the vacum created by the turbo in the intake,it would cause the bypass to open up as if it were in water! This would creata a lot of time where the air entering the motor was not filtered at all!
I don't know about you guy's ,but ,I for one don't like particles of foreign matter entering into my motor!
Matt:)

no, i didn't know that! that's good to know when i end up going turbo. i do have a few things to learn yet!!

50,000 miles?! THat's crazy!

Bypass?! Anyone care to give a quick explanation?
I can't really think of it's practicality in any city situations unless you're offroading crossing deep streams and stuff.
Pardon my ignorance...

from what i understand, the turbo causes the bypass to stay open all the time so you're bypassing the filter completely....all the time.

after every 3-4K miles my filter is moderately dirty. i could probably go longer...but i like to stay on top ot of it...clogged filter means overheating the engine...poor perfromance etc..not good. 50k miles is crazy!

I asked Injen this same question a while ago as I am running a CAI in our MP3.

They suggested cleaning it every 3 months or 4000 miles to maintian a nice air flow, however they also mentioned that even if the filter is dirty air will still flow.

I also have the splash guard installed just in case of rain.
