Infotainment access issue help!

Hi everyone,

2015 Mazda2

I need help with a specific issue. I can’t access the entertainment section of my car, whether it’s through the steering wheel controls or the shortcut button—nothing seems to work. However, everything else is functioning fine. I've tried several things, but nothing has worked so far.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  1. Resetting everything I can reset through the diagnostic tools.
  2. Updating to the latest version: EU N 74.00.334. The update worked, and the system is now showing the new version.
  3. Replacing the CMU (if the box with the connections under the screen is the CMU).
  4. Unplugging and re-plugging the connections under the screen (checked the TCU as well to make sure the connections weren't loose).
  5. Checking the fuses and, just in case there’s hidden damage, I swapped the fuses between the radio and entertainment sections.
  6. Disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes—this didn’t work either.
  7. Connecting to Bluetooth—it connects, but I still can't access the entertainment section (I saw a post where someone said this worked for them).
  8. Inserting a disc (another suggestion I found, but it didn’t work for me).
  9. Starting the car to see if that made a difference—no luck.
  10. Using an OBD tool (MaxiSys MS906 BT) to search for codes—nothing came up. However, I used the built-in diagnostic system, and it showed some codes.
Before using the download file, I checked the hashes to make sure everything was correct.

The built-in diagnostic tool showed the following:
  • 2 timed out but 3 cleard.
  • Codes 4 and 5 cleared, but there was no data.
  • 94 it timed out.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have read your post, and I'm not clear what your problem is. Does your touchscreen work?
What's the shortcut button? Are you referring to the commander knob and buttons?
"Nothing seems to work" clearly, you are able to have access to the diagnostics menu.
Could you play any audio?

Did you know by now there's a bad screen plague on all Mazda Connect1? If the digitizer has a layer contamination, it may inhibit other types of control.

Go to diagnostic number 70 and run it to test the touchscreen. Place a finger on the screen, you will see horizontal and vertical lines that cross where your finger is placed. Move your finger around and confirm there are no dropouts during the test. Place more fingers on the screen, each finger will show a crosshair, and do the same. Release finger and touch again, screen colors will change.

There are many tests you can do in the diagnostics menu, test your commander wheel and buttons and confirm steering wheel switches are good.

yes i have already done that the screen itself is functioning but the entertainment category can’t be accessed nor can I listen to any kind of audio I’ll try the steering wheel switches as soon as possible but what correlation does the steering wheel switches have to the function of the entertainment category (and what I mean with the entertainment category is the music icon)
