This car has been dreadful

First - the remote start circuit blew-out after 2 months. The the antenna detached after going over a bump, took it in to be fixed - it wasnt - had to take it back in.

Then at 30K the water pump went bad.(hand)

When the tech replaced it he broke a small vacum tube assembly.

They had to order the part - Maxda shipped the wrong part. wait another week for the part.(hand)(hand)

Then they shipped the right part - but it was broken. Had to wait another week for the part.(hand)(hand)(hand)

You guessed it - the part arrived broken...again!(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)

Then - they tell me the part is on back order.(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)(hand)

My car has been at the shop now for OVER ONE MONTH !!!!!!!!!!

I asked them to take the part off one of the new cars and fix mine so this can be between the dealer and Maxda but they say they cant do that?

I hate this car now - its an embarrassment at this point

Calm down.
You actually only have had TWO problems.
Remote Start and Water Pump. The rest were caused by incompetant dealer mechanic or shipping process. Not the CX9 itself.

BTW, how did you know the water pump is broken? Could it be the dealer was trying to over-charge Mazda. Fixing water pump is an expensive process in labor. The engine needs to be lifted up to get it down. At least $1000 if you had to do that after warranty. Even if it is true that the water pump went bad, consider it a blessing that you caught that early before OE warranty expires... see, it's a bottle half filled. It depends on how you look at things.
Also remote start is prone to problems. I always stay away from things like that.

Lol thats dreadful for you ??? You had one serious problem in 30K miles. Thats not too bad at all. But the customer service your getting is definately unacceptable.

My moms lexus es300 had its engine replaced, 3X tranny replacements (lol), axle replaced, water pump went bad, push start failure . . . all within 30K miles. Unlike your situation the service was great. But she was driving customer cars for about 1/2 the time she had the lexus.

The dealer wouldnt be ballsy enough to get more warranty money. If they are going over their quota each month they get audited by the mazda... Not to mention those warranty parts get sent to a WTC (warranty technical center) when the WTC reviews the paper work and the warranty techs deem they want to inspect the part. If they find that the part didnt need to be replaced, they debit the dealer.

I asked them to check on the smell of coolant that I noticed on occasion so i was the one that noticed an issue - it was not leaving any puddles and the temp was ok.

Why aren't they giving you a loan car ?

I get a loan car (in Aust) when mine is in for a routine service for the day !

Cheers

Last repair I had to do (window failed to roll down), I got a loaner from my dealer also.
For major service, they also give a loaner.

when I had our CX9 in last month to replace the water pump at ~10k km : ( I had to twist arms to get a loaner for 3 days, but got one.

i almost want to say that this is unbelievable. as a mazda parts manager i know that i can get parts almost 99.99% of the time next day from any north american warehouse. i would say that this is a dealer staff problem.

i really don't recall any cx-9 water pump problems? it sounds like you have issues with your dealer more than mazda. mazda is actually pretty awesome. and they really do take care of their customers. maybe you should call mazda customer service and complain.

where i work if your service is expected to take more than 90 mins you get a loaner. we won't give you a loaner for oil changes besides you can wait 1/2 hour in our waiting room. but having to twist arms to get a loaner is out of control.

OK - I finally got to pick-up my CX-9 this evening after 6 weeks in the shop!!!(headbang)

But alas - I had to turn around and take it right back to the dealer because of an annoying vibration -- I'm not a tech but the location (underneath the carriage) and the unusual exhaust note leads me to believe its a problem with the exhaust...a gasket perhaps??? Either way - its going to spend another night (at least) at the dealer instead of my driveway.

I'm back in the loaner car - the saga continues....(dunno)

I work for hyundai, and we can get E orders (next day shipping) on most parts available at our facing PDC (which for me is Ontario). Of course it costs 15% more, but that covers the extra freight. Normal orders are two days out.

So you get all your orders next day?

no only e orders as well but will gladly overnight something to get it taken care of immediatly. i get two stock orders a week but i have parts coming in daily

We used to have Hyundai here as well (Moss Bros. Auto Group) but the sales dept was not doing well and the owner pulled the plug. Getting parts from Hyundai is horrible, they take too long. Like murraymazda mentioned, twice a week for us as well even thought the facing PDC (Ontario, CA) was literally 25 miles away from our Hyundai dealer in Moreno Valley, CA

Its amazing how this process has not changed yet from Hyundai considering that they are on the rising scheme with all their nice and affordable vehicles. Oh well, I am just glad I don't have to deal with angry costumers complaning about the turn around time in parts from Hyundai anymore.

All of our other lines (Ford/Mercury/Lincoln, Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/et. al., Honda, and Toyota/Scion) when parts are in our facing PDC's it is always without a doubt delivered in the middle of the night that same day or very early in the morning the next day.

Finally picked it up tonight after they fixed the vibration - I was right, it was something related to the exhaust system. It seems to be ok now except for the fact the steering wheel is off center - in order to go straight (12 O'clock) it needs to be pointed at 1:00 O'Clock ???? WTH ....I would take it back but I'm just gonna call it a day for now - I give up.

The next closest dealer is in Harrisburg,Pa - its about 30 miles further away.

Finally did take it back and they fixed the Steering Wheel mis-alignment. Drove the car down to Virginia for a business trip.....the Air Conditioner doesnt work(pissed)

What a disaster. If it were me at this point, although it would take a little time, I think I would be documenting everything in detail and sending Mazda USA a letter. They at least need to know what's going on with that joint. Are Ford dealers certified to perform warranty work on Mazda vehicles(due to the relationship they have, or used to have, not sure anymore)? I wonder whether that could be a closer option. Hope things get better for you.
