Impressive power increase with injen in cool weather

(werd) I think we complain the most over heat than any other state.
That's because it might be 110 degrees in Arizona, but they have 0 humidity. Here in FL, it's like 95 degrees & 95% humidity...it's CRAZY! (crazy)

Yeah I was watching the weather channel last night before I went to sleep and it was still 85 degrees outside at midnight! With the humidity the heat index was 89... at midnight!

I'd like to find someone who knows enough about chemisty or whatever to answer this question.

With higher temp & no humidity, the air molecules are spaced out more, meaning it takes more air to get the same result from a lower temp.

With lower temp, but high humidity, the air molecules are a little closer, but I think the water content of the air is much greater. The density of water is about 800x greater than air, so I would think that higher humidity would mean lower net air mass than just high heat.

Aw, screw it. I'm just gonna install a small window-unit air conditioner under the hood and direct the fan to my intake. instant 42-degree charge temp!

My friend was a whiz at chemistry in HS, so I asked him & this is what he found:

http://www.thrustssc.com/thrustssc/Engineering/Atmospheric_effect.html
http://www.chevron.com/prodserv/fuels/gas_qanda/api_octane.shtml
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/autos/gasoline-faq/part3/section-1.html

So it seems like air temp is a significant factor while humidity doesn't affect performance. Also, the higher water content in the air can actually be slightly beneficial. Therefore, the answer to the ? is Arizona IS worse than FL. :)

Read my post...humidity doesn't matter much.

(smart ass comment) arizona msp's run faster. the fact is, we do not have mosquitos lodged into the intercoolers :-D

Lol I deffinately have a few lodged in the IC myself. Off topic but has anyone gotten into love bug season yet? I had seen a lot but not as much as usual over the spring, I was wondering where they went.

i was never able to spin the wheels in first unless i slipped the clutch with out an intake during the winter.
I don't want to sound like I'm putting down your car or anything...but thats just weak.

My car will break the tires loose in weather below 50 deg no matter what in 1st gear...and then about 5000rpms in 2nd. I have NO mods done to the engine.

Maybe my car just has a strong engine...

Mine won't spin in first unless it's about 70 degrees out (which doesnt happen very often)... and then 5 minutes later after heat soak kicks in, they'll won't spin.
