Important news about 2002 MP3

I would be willing to bet that mazda dosent make a 250 prod run of the next iteration of the MP3.. the reason is that they made the MP3 in limited production to test the market to see if it would sell. and it sold VERY fast.. the next iteration of the mp3 will probably be b/w 15000-45000. b/c mazda knows that they CAN and WILL make money off of the MP3. why would they want to lose more money off of another car. and i also believe that they will not come out with it in SEPTEMBER. i bet it will be next spring along with the rx7 and mazda 6. then mazda could steal most of the market in those areas. their just trying to get the hype up about another MP3, and its working.

To all my fellow Mp3 owners don't believe everything u read. How many times have we all heard "my info is accurate there will be more mp3's. I work there or my dad works there or my dog works there. Let's just wait and see. I should post all the other articles where people have said don't worry i just got off the phone with joe blow and he knows johnny cash who knows george johnson and he works at mazda and he said there will be no more mp3's. That is why this is called "rumors" when people are board they make s*** up. Even the dealers don't know what is in store for the mp3 the only one who knows Kim Yu foo and he lives in Japan. I have no idea where you got your information but Mazda only sold 250 2001 mp3 and there are no more coming for 2002 or 2003.

They may have been talking about the new Mazda6 that is replacing the 626 or maybe the MPV van that they are "street modeling". There are no more MP3s to be sold in Canada!!

Just to add fuel to the fire....

I was into my Mazda dealer here in Ottawa on March 13/02, and (I think it was) the Service Manager mentioned that they are going to have a turbo-MP3 later this year or early 2003. He said that they'd probably use the 2.3L engine (the one in the new Mazda 6?) and it would be about 190hp(very low boost).

I have no doubt that this info. is true, but I wonder if these new cars will in fact be turbo MP3s, or just Protege's with a turbo & suspension upgrades? (ie. without the MP3 stereo, sub, etc.)
Maybe the new car will just be called a Protege3, or something like that?!

Since the turbo looks like it will be for a 2.3L engine, I guess that rules out current MP3 owners from being able to add a factory turbo kit to our 2.0L engine.

It will be interesting to see exactly what Mazda puts in the showroom!

After speaking to a lot of sale people and service managers about different cars from different manufacturers. I'm conviced that dealerships don't know shi*. It seems like they're the last ones to hear any of the real news. They just like to hear themselves talk sometimes.

Apex is right the dealers don't know they just sell what ever is given to them. Service managers and all those people are clueless too. when are people gonna learn? I meet some really smart people on this site and then i meet some really stupid ones too. How's this mp3 ottawa i heard that mazda was gonna turbo the mp3, and give a stock 50 shot of nitrous. There is a guy that does the landscaping there ya know cuts the grass and stuff at a dealership in texas and he said he overheard a meeting between two salesman and then when he went in the room he found some hidden blue prints in the guys desk. so it must be true!

I use to sell Infinitis. And I consider my self an absolute car nut. Let me tell ya the dealers know jack sh@!. I was the one telling them what they would be getting in as far as new cars. How did I know? simple I read magazines

How did we go from RUMORS about the next Protege project to shitting on car salesmen?

I normally wouldn't have responded to this thread since it seems dead, but after reading some of the other uncontructive comments of some of these posters, I have elected to lower my standards.

My main beef is with ez's last comment("I meet some really smart people on this site and then i meet some really stupid ones too.").

Maybe he should re-read the topic/forum name he's posting comments on before saying stuff that has no place on this board. I understand he feels strongly about certain things(fords, poor sales reps, etc...), but his criticism serves no constructive purpose whatsoever.

In this particular forum, I don't think there are any stupid people or posts - maybe we should call them either realistic or naive.

Take it with a grain of salt & use your own judgement on what you want to believe. If you hear similar things from different sources, does that make it true?
