Import Tuner Mag MS6 testing

You've gotta give a little more background than that. I have no idea what you're talking about. :(

i'm guessing Import Tuner magazine did some dyno runs, which he is claiming to have read 118 hp.

i wasn't able to find what silversunmsp is referring to.

Sorry about that, I was posting from my phone. I'm referring to the test in this month's issue of Import Tuner Magazine. They modded the an MS6 with an AEM intake, CPE Standback, and a Maganaflow catback but only net 214hp a the wheels. How much does a stock MS6 put down on a dyno jet??? I know not all dyno's measure the same but those numbers seem way off.

I wouldn't take anything seriously that's posted in IMPORT TUNER, just my 2 cents

100% agree....it's a magazine for ricers created by ricers.

They also used a Mustang Dyno which (I could be wrong) usually undershoot the HP #

Well yes, I realize that. I normally wouldn't buy a copy but I happened to see the MS6 article. The rest of the mag is crap and poorly executed. I'm more of a Sport Compact Car guy

The magizines of today are garbage really. I have some Turbo mags from back in the late 80's and early 90's when the pages were filled with turbo car like RX7's, Mustangs, GNX's, Starions, 300's & ect. Back then they were informative now just filled with show car s*** & Hondas. No I'm not Honda hating, but damn. Even some of the test that Car & driver & the the other mags like it do are screwed up most of the time. 118 hp thats funny though

If you take a good look at the article: http://www.importtuner.com/tech/impp_0909_2007_mazda_speed6/index.html

You'll see they install the cat catback on the OEM 2-cat downpipe, which is where
the power blockage really sits, they only gain 7hp/7tq from the exhaust system.
They will not put a test pipe or single cat on, because they are keeping the car
'street legal'. I guess what I'm trying to say is they're not really trying to make power
with this car. Why not at least an ETS TMIC? Turbo Inlet Pipe?

It's a magazine mod list, not a true performance oriented mod list.

We shouldn't expect big numbers.

well i read a little and they said the ms6 was produced 2005-2007 from my understanding i thought it was 06-07. i hate the magazines now there whole point is to sell copys and put crap information with riced out cars on the cover. my guess is those numbers they claim to have gotten are way off.

The numbers the showed from the CAI install were unreal! I was very impressed with that

The "Mazdaspeed 6" was only produced for 2006 and 2007. However, I believe the Japanese model, the "Mazdaspeed Atenza", was launched in 2005. In the end it would be a technicality.

they also dont include the price of the harness for the SB in the bankroll.

I noticed that too. I questioned it at first but then I remembered seeing a similar gain with Sport Compact Car's MS3 project.

According to Mistersix they also were using ECU management. From what it sounds like, they are trying to get people to buy off that you're getting a gain from CAI and ECU management just for the CAI.

I'm surprised they didn't go with all Cobb parts (SRI, TIP, and AP) with the exhaust and see what gains you could make. I think that would have been a cheaper, and equivalent if not superior solution.
