Immobilizer Compatibility across country markets

I have a 1999 Mazda 626 in great condition. But the immobilizer unit seems to be beginning to die (part number GE4T 67 5G2B) -- sometimes the car cuts off after a second, and the immobilizer light lights. Tapping the immobilizer unit just below the steering column has so far cured the matter, but my dealer tells me that, when these units start to behave this way, then it's not long until the unit fails totally, leaving me stranded whereever I may be.

Trouble is, I can't find any replacement parts in my home market - Switzerland. I've also looked in Germany. My Swiss dealer say only "We can't get it." They were never very helpful -- their dealership was even cancelled because of their attitude. My German dealer is actually helpful, and says it is not available anywhere in Europe.

I tried ordering a used part with this number from Latvia. It arrived OK, and we were able to get a code generted for it, but the part failed to go through the programming phase (the Key block light just stopped blinking, instead of going slower, so one ould enter the code through the switch key).

I found in the Internet that these parts cannot be reused once they have been programmed. See http://www.justanswer.com/mazda/7bqpz-good-day-please-anyone-help-provide-pin-codes.html. See the paragraph which reads "The immobilizer unit and PCM cannot be changed from one car to another. If the immobilizer unit or PCM is replaced with one from another car, the engine will not start. Reprogramming of the IDs and code word of an immobilizer unit that has already programmed as a set is not possible." This makes no sense to me, and the Latvian who sold me the part swears it works and will work in in other vehicles, but whether its not possible or the part he sent me is just defective, my problem is not solved.

So, I went in search of a new unit, and found lots of them with that part number, but in the US. This is not a problem -- I'm going to visit in the US in a month or two. However, the dealer there is balking at selling one to me, saying that the US parts will not work on cars sold outside the US. This sounds to me a bit strange -- if that were true, then the unit would have a different part number, no? So is this dealer making obstacles where none need exist, operating out of ignorance or is there something to his concern?

I have tried contacting Mazda in 3 countries, but they're not very helpful. I have not yet figured out how to ask this question of Mazda in Japan. It's a bit frightening the way the company divides markets. Mazda Switzerland even yelled at me when I sought help in Germany -- I live near the border. I asked in Switzerland first, but they just blockaded me (as usual).

So I would really appreciate any tips the forum members could give me. If you don't know then answer to my question, but know how to contact somoen in Japan who could answer me, that would also be helpful.

Thanks for your attention and any help you could offer.,
