Image Dynamic Q.

Guess who I work and Install for? HEheheheheh I love the drama never assume anything! Always get all the facts! and then only then make choice based on the facts and Crutchfield is the only Authorized Internet Seller

Depending on the brand, there are a few authorized dealers out there. The best way to find out is to go to the manufacturer's website.

For example, if you click on the store-finder on MTX Audio's website you can obtain the following list:
Crutchfield.com
CarDomain.com
CarToys.com
MitekFactoryOutlet.com
StereoDirect.com

I personally recommend CarDomain.com, I have made numerous purchases from them and never had a problem.

For Alpine products however, I believe Crutchfield is the only authorized internet seller.

ITt's pretty hard to blow a M500 amp what happens no out put? or a error code? Check setting #9 make sure its off thats the output mode or safe mode. turn it to off power the amp off then back on should work. If not send it to me and I'll get it fixed.

Woo hoo!! Blown remote wire. Amp is fine. I need another 500 (cabpatch)

Another $500 or another m500 amp?

I thought we already established that you would not get more power to your subs by purchasing another m500. You need an m1000 or two new subs that are 4ohm DVC.

THe MRD-M500 runs best at 2 ohms, However to get more power out of you subwoofer you can run two amps to one subwoofer provided it's a dual voice coil subwoofer. Because the MRDM500 is a full digital amp, you can match the settings Crossover subsonic filter parametric eq ect exactly from one amp to the other. And don't Y the RCA's for input to the second amp just use 1 side in each amps right input. By adding a sub you gain 3db+ by adding a amp you gian 12db+ thats a big bump. this is the set up i have been running for 4 years now in two different cars. you can call me with any questions or justpost them here or PM or IM me.

PS I just woke up so if i spelled crap wrong too bad!

The issue is that he has two 2ohm DVC Image Dynamics IDQ12s. They are already wired for a 2ohm load. The amp puts out 500 watts with this configuration and each subwoofer essentially gets 250 watts.

If he buys a second m500 amp and powers each one separately, each subwoofer will be wired for 4ohms. The amp only puts out 250 watts with this configuration and despite his new purchase, he will still only send 250 watts to each subwoofer.

In theory he could use both m500 amps on a single IDQ subwoofer...but since it is a DVC 2ohm model, each voice coil will receive 500 watts for a total of 1000 watts. It cannot handle that type of power.

So to reiterate what I have already stated, his options are:
1) Buy a new amp such as the m1000 that puts out 700-1000 watts and sell the m500, or
2) Buy a second m500 and two new subwoofers that are 4ohm DVC and sell the current IDQ subwoofers.

He can run 4 amps if he's crazy enough to do it and the woofers can take that power Remember 1000watt peak or RMS how ever you want to call it only happenes for a split second unless he's playing a 60hz note at 4volts of input gain with the correct battery supply voltage and current constant current (this wont happen in any car with out major upgrades) it will be fine. Like i said I have a 10" DVC Type R Alpine Sub 300watts max per coil and im running 2 MRD-M300's one on each coil so im maxing out the sub technically so my sub should be hitting bottom and distorting right? it doesn't not even a little on any song and I play my system full volume 8-12 hours a day M-F while going from shop to shop. However in his case he might distort the woofer on some notes but highly unlikely. But I would have to agree with you in this case 1 MRD-M1000 or 1001 or even A MRD-M1005 will work better than a seconed MRD-M500 or M501 4 MRD-M500 would be the bomb but thats a big budjet. I don't respond to many posts on here but this was too good to pass up. And i just saved him from a reapir or the purchase of a amp because he thought his was blown.

Yeah. I need 500$. I need dynamat and focals. Got a set of focals hooked up for 400 and I think I can go on ebay and get a bunch of dynamat for a bill. I usually sit my subs on my back seat because they rattle so much in the trunk.

Did you ever think what might happen if you got in an accident? The subwoofer box would take your head off unless it is properly secured to your car.

Middle seat buckle. I know thats not "properly" secured... but I've been into 2 accidents involving forward thrust, neither of which the sub box has left the seat. I have them in the trunk now acctually, but I only have one sheet of dynamat. Like I said I'm broke. Amp is fine. It was a blown remote wire acctually, so we re-wired it to the ignition.

I hope you put a fuse in-line with the remote turn on before connecting it to the ignition. You only need to send about 0.5a down that wire.

Woo hoo!! Props to TX Speed Demon. Most of my rattles were fixed with 3M double sided coushioned tape. My trunk sounds great now. Under the deck lid was 70% of the problem too. I got my rattles fixed with 1 sheet of dynamat too. I got TX Speed Demons "write up" in my PM and would be more than happy to share with yall if you guys want to fix your rattles. Took me less than 45 minutes for the whole thing. Bumpin' the speed again (headbang)
