NYC, DC and Boston are all great big, crowded, congested metro areas. Northern Minnesota is not. There are a zillion cars, most folks don't know how to deal and aren't properly equipped with snows or any common sense, for that matter. Causes big problems.

(werd) I drive in anything and I always have. Biggest problem in the City is there is nowhere to put the snow. It needs to be trucked out the city and piled somewhere out of the way to melt. Makes cleanup take forever in the city.

I don't understand why so many people b**** and complain about a bit of snow or ice on their car(s). Cripse, it's not like it's the first time you've seen it happen - or is it? Anybody on the East Cost should be used to it by now. Furthermore, what is it with you pansies complaining about needing snow tires so bad. A decent set of all-seasons works fine. Granted, I like having a good set of winters. Where I live, we get and average yearly snowfall of 221.5 cm (87.2 inces). Every year, people make such a big deal about winter. For what reason? My guess is that they crave the attention or they like feeling sorry for themselves. If you hate it so much, move to somewhere warm and sunny.

What I don't understand is why people still don't know how to drive in snow. It's really not that difficult you know. Just take it easy. Then again, lots of people lose it even in the rain. I tell yeh, some people's kids ...

Suck it up you big bunch of babies!
