I'm so tired of my speed breaking!

:
Cosmic Blue MS3
I get to my house tonight and in the headlights I see steam/smoke and smell something that just really stinks. I pop my hood and notice my coolant thing is completely empty and there is coolant splashed all over the engine bay, I haven't even really gotten on the car since the day my motor mount failed, and they swear they checked it. I'm calling the tow truck in the morning to take it to Mazda, hopefully they don't try to blame this on me also.

Looks like the dealer did a crappy job of putting everything back together right. Hopefully they'll do a better job this time.

sux hardcore, hope everything comes out ok...and quickly before you hate a car I know you could enjoy.

A quick search shows that the dealership is Garlyn Shelton. Seems like everybody in TX ought to know which dealership thinks a motor mount breaking is a "good will" repair and that you should drive it "like any other car" (From the "Oh Noes!" thread.) So now it appears that they think the repair should also be done half-assed!

This is all making my blood boil. If I wanted to drive my car like "any other car", I wouldn't have bought a performance car like a Mazdaspeed. I would have bought a regular 3, or a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, or some other "any other car." Ideally, I'd like to be able to drive it like the fantasy claymation "Wild Child" on the website. In the real world, I want to be able (at a minimum) to drive it like any other performance car.

Alot of it has to do I think is that their more expensive jobs are bmws so they're mazda customers really don't get the attention they would if this was souly a mazda dealership. I'm waiting for them to try to tell me it wasn't like that, and it wasn't something they missed or something.

It all has to do with the dealership, not Mazda.

IMO

I think Mazda fully expects people to drive their MS3's hard. It's the dealerships who are sending the wrong message because they're lazy.

God I hope nothing ever happens to mine. I keep hearing over and over how mazda seems intent on being pricks with warranty work. Maybe its all makes/dealerships but I have never heard this many complaints on something.

warranty work is up to the dealer and the service writers/managers whether they are going to cover something....it has nothing to do with mazda, unless its something major like an engine or tranny on a car with like 10k miles then mazda will send someone to the dealer to check it out.

Yes!

And Mazda Corporate ONLY Knows about issues when their dealer network reports them -or- they get a call on their tech line.

I get the feeling that many of you think Mazda has some extra sensory perseption about failures. It's not like they know when a motor mount fails in Canada, or a suspension bolt loosens up in California. Mazda CAN gleen failure information from design reviews and issues they find on the assembly line, but it's largely up to the dealers to report failures from the field.

Like most things in life it's the result of a failure in communication that causes problems- it's the guy in the service department in some small dealership in Texas who drops the ball and never informs Mazda (or the Mazda regional rep) of that leaky strut or missing engine mount washer.

Try to think instead of lashing out. (chair)

I have 24,000km on my car as of yesterday and I drive it hard. I have not had anything break on it. I have a motor mount on the way so I can be proactive on that front. With the CAI and the TMIC it has too much power for the stock mount.

My dealer in Calgary on an oil change knocked a heater hose loose which rubbed against the fan and caused a leak but they fixed it for me.

I am very happy with the quality of the car, it is holding up much better than my Volvos.

Warranty repairs are all reported to Mazda Corporate for payment...

Your correct but...

I'm referring more to those dealerships that won't repair the car under warranty. There was one MS3 owner who was getting flack from their dealer.

It also takes sometime for those repair payments to process. They're treated like any other bill, payment in 30, 60, 90 days...

I'm just annoyed when people don't consider that the process takes time.

I guess I'm sympathetic becasue I deal with this sort of thing as well.

No worries; I just wanted to clarify that Mazda USA does have a way of IDing issues with their cars. I agree with you though that I don't think that they are intentionally trying to screw anyone. It is not in their best interest to pay for engines falling out and the corresponding damages, rather than to replace motor mounts that probably cost Mazda about $2.

At me dealer when I went in to have my sway bar bolt inspected the tech had a web site that he logs into and checks for reported complaints. He saw on there that the navigation screen had complaints and asked if I had one and I do. My screen was dead from the factory and they replaced it with in 2 weeks of buying the car.

As for the bolt and motor mounts there were no complaints in Mazdas main frame and he called to be sure and was told the same thing. As for my loose bolt I cought it fast enough that it only unthreaded maybe 2 turns or less so no damage hence no warranty work and no report.

The lame thing was that for him to report it he wanted to have found it loose but I fixed it already with locktite. I told him give me the wrench and I will show you what it looked like, lol. I dont get it man but I am in the clear so I am not going to go all postal on why it wasnt reported.

My service guy called me yesterday at work to tell me they found where all my coolant went, a coolant hose had come loose from where it was supposed to be and got eaten by the radiator fans. I asked if he thought maybe it was something that was overlooked when the motor mount failed and the motor fell, and just like I knew he was going to said, "You probly knocked it loose when you installed your intercooler." I said we didn't touch any lines while installing the intercooler but didn't have time to argue at the time so go ahead and fix it and we would work it out when I came to pick my car up. I almost want a nissan again, I never once had any disputes with them over why my car was in there, had every bolt on available for my spec v and it was fixed promptly without question.

Thats the price you pay for after market mods. I know it sux but its exactly why mine wont have anything on it that isnt MS so they cant pull that crap.

Regardless of aftermarket parts, sure that does have allot to do with it however, what type of intercooler did you install? I'm assuming it's a front mount? If so, I cannot give you an educated answer to what should or should not take place, because a few things are working against you. If it's a front mount and you attempted to cram the largest intercooler in there without checking concerns of rubbing under normal engine flexion/load etc. well, I know you don't want to hear it, but thats your fault. I'm all for aftermarket parts as well as the Mazdaspeed parts, but I certainly would never install any one size fits all part to include an intercooler. Why? because of what happened to you. There's way to many parts to be damaged to include your warranty if it's not application specific. For your sake, I hope things work out, but I also hope it's a lesson well learned. Lastly, remember they have to prove the aftermarket part was the cause of the failed part(s) and again I hate to say it, but just from reading this, it appears that way.

Good Luck!

I have the same ets top mount that a good few people have, it's a bolt in installation, a no brainer. I picked my car up yesterday evening, they didn't charge me, and the guy was nice again. I guess they're just a holes when you drop off the car and like to just point blame on people other than themselves, cause the last time I thougt they were going to try to pull some crap and not warrenty something they were really nice when I picked the car up also, like a complete 180 from when I drop it off. I got my speed back in working order so that's all I really care about.
