I was wondering if someone can tell me whats a good exhaust for the Protege 5.
I wanted to put it on myself and I heard people say, "get a full cat back"
If so, whats a good size piping, without losing power (which I also heard), and how easy is it really to put on?
Any info would help. Thanks.

sigh...search

ok with that done heres some questions i have for you
is ur car manual or automatic?
do you have a freeflow intake?
how muc do you have to spend?
what kind of sound do you want from it?

right off the bat im going to say racing beat. its what i have on my car and i love it. id also recommend the greddy sp2 exhaust.

to answer your q's

its a manual...

i got a cool air intake in it...

I got about 300-400 to spend..
are there ones that are cheaper but good?

i want something thats a low rumble, i guess something with a silencer,
i dont want it to sound like a coffee can, ya know?
not too loud but loud enough to know theres an exaust

thanks for your reply to my post

Then the racing beat exhuast is what you want as far as sound goes... i dont recal the price atm yet.... I also believe that Ken from protege garge is doign a group buy on the rb exhaust.

its 450 dollars.

its a great exhaust, its not loud at all unless you get on it, in the low rpms it sounds stock.
by silencer, do you mean a pre silencer? like a resonator?

I beleive he is talking about the peice that you put in most fart cannon exhuast on the tips to muffl it down a little.

well tahts silly.

we put the silence on my friends teg, cuz it droned alot on the freeway, and it sounded nice on the inside, but it sounded like s*** from the outside lol.

Racing Beat
Vibrant, if you can find one in stock.
Greddy both the Evo2 and SP2. More the SP2 for what you are looking for.

Either sound good and perform well. We have the Tanabe Axleback on my wife's prote and that sounds nice and looks good as well.

Good luck on your search.

thanks...

but where do i go to buy this racing beat exhuast???

also is it easy enough to install or would i have to take it to a shop?

i would say HKS Hi-power axle back. its only the muffler though but it looks and sounds good for your price range. install is super easy, just bolt up!

HKS Hi-power axle back? is that just a tip? or is it a full system?
aaaaaaaaaaah
you have much to learn

a tip... is literally a tip. a shiny covering that goes over the actual exhaust pipe.

a full system goes from Header to Tip.

an axleback, is the portion of the exhaust that starts at the axle, and goes back.
a catback, starts at the cat, and goes back.

hope this clears ur confusion
