I'm Back.... but no longer with my MSP...

saw that yer running the stock TD04 turbo. You realize that this turbo is spitting out super hot air after 17psi right?? Not only boosting higher gonna heat soak your intercooler, it can cause detonation and engine failure in the long term. Running the turbo out of its range can speed up the bearings to fail. Ask any of the VW guys running chips, how fast they kill the turbo. Telling people you run 22psi might be cool but there is absolutely NO benefit but all downsides by running the turbo out of its efficiency range.

you right, i know i friend of mine had an 2003 gti with the chip and killed two turbos in two years, LOL he has the new one 06 gti and allready killed the new turbo!!! Thats because boosting 22psi daily!!!

I'm sure the SRT-4 guys know how to handle their motors. A GTI motor is not the same as an SRT-4 motor. Besides the MSP guys are blowing engines left and right so we're really not in much of a position to tell these guys how to tune their cars.

BTW you SRT 4 and those of your friends are very nice. I love how they look and I like that you took the spoiler off.

Now just invest in a few handling mods and it should bring you a little closer to the MSP. Got nothing but respect for dodge on this one. Now if they could just fix that gosh-awful interior, I might be interested in one!

and a protege is still a protege. SRT-4 and MSP are nothing more than tarted up econoboxes except one is imbued with the handling of the gods, has a great interior but is prone to detonation if you look at it the wrong way and the other is an unholy fast speed demon that has the turning radius of a 747 and the interior off a rental car but will destroy cars costing twice as much as it does.

^^^^ :D "handling of the gods"

you forgot to mention freakin awesome exterior styling :D

Nice SRT4 man. The black stock wheels look really nice. Ever think about blacking out the headlight housing? For some reason I thought the SRT4s had blacked out housing from the factory, must have just been the concept car or something. I think it would look sweet.

A TD04 on an SRT4 is COMPLETELY different than a K03 Turbo on a GTI lol... get your facts before posting something like this... thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I wish the interior was nicer, but oh well.

I looked at SRT-4's. I just couldnt bring myself to buy a neon. I know they are fast and all, but its still a neon.

A SRT4 is nothing more than a Neon with a turbo
An Evo is nothing more than a Lancer with a turbo
An MSP is nothing more than a Protege with a turbo

Its as simple as that...

Careful folks. We have enough MSP vs. SRT theads. This is NOT going to be one of them.

Oh, Im not trying to start a flame war...

I used to own an MSP and loved it, then hated it for the many problems it gave me.

I still like to log-on to forums and say hi and etc...

Not here to start trouble.

That does sum it up pretty good.
personally I wouldnt mind having both.

I agree with srt and msp but not the evo. Evos chassis is pretty much a different beast with 5000 extra welds and strenthing of the body. Not to mention the only thing a evo and a lancer shares is the trunk and windows.

Well then in that defense, you might as well say that for the MSP

And you might as well say, "But an SRT4s motor/tranny are so BEEFED up that, thats not the case...

They share the same body regardless...

The MSP is a lot less changed from the Protege than the SRT4 is from the neon, that's quite clear. They took a Protege MP3 and turboed it, or if you want to make the stretch they took a Protege ES, gave it new struts, springs, swaybars, a turbo kit, an axleback muffler, a plastic engine cover, different leather on the wheel, a kenwood sound system, new front bumper, new sideskirts, new rear skirt, bigger wheels, new spoiler, upgraded brakes (sourced from euro mazdas) sparco pedals/shifter and reskinned the seats. Oh and painted them in fun colors.

The SRT4 changed the bumper, hood, spoiler, rear bumper, sideskirts, some little interior tweaks, but not only did it get a turbo kit, it got a ridiculously strengthened engine to make it the modern interpretation of American Musclecar.

If mazda had dumped the money they spent on souping up the interior, in car entertainment, and suspension, they could have made a drag racing beast too, but I'm glad they didn't.

Totally different cars targeting different markets. I hate that car mags insist on comparing them and labeling one the winner. It isn't anything like the Evo/STi comparisons, those have very similar focuses.

I have respect for the SRT4 for what it is capable of. It was definitely a better choice for you than the MSP.

This is all true in my IMO... I agree with you... I was just sayin ya know... me tired...

It's a fast car but IMO it's nothing to look at, Nothing...

The Car has no Soul and sorry, I feel you could have done better for the money you spent...

yes, but the Protege started life as a very nimble, responsive and fun to drive car with excellent feel - so they're already starting out on a different level
