Well I have not finished a deal yet damn it lol... still trying to get my hands on the one in GA today. making call after call to get the deal i want.

This is just my $00.02, but you might want to look for a used 6. The resale on these cars is, well, it's terrible. For potential buyers, it means you can walk away with a used, loaded, 6s for thousands less than it would be new. What you end up getting for the price is just outstanding.

Welcome! Ask whatever you need to know! What was your previous car, and why come here with a Mazda?

Why is the resale terrible?

Partly because it's a Mazda (with the exception of the Rx series, they've all had fairly poor resale value). Mazda also, even after saying they wouldn't, turned the 6 into a fleet vehicle.

I've had mine less than 2 years and it's lost over $10,000 in value. Part of that is because it's a mtx. The atxs seem to hold up a little better.

The flipside of my last statement is that you can get a lot of car for very little money if you're willing to buy used. Mazda certinaly doesn't make a poor vehicle, they're just notorious for having poor resale.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 3 will end that trend. It's being sold faster than it can be produced in Europe. That was the case, at least, a month or so back.

From, what I notice, here in Qubec, the resale value of the Mazda 6 is very fair. it does not seem to be a vehicle that depreciates really quickly here.

Mazda also killed the resale value because of all the coupons. I basically got 3,000 USD off my 2nd 6, and ended up paying much much less then I did for the first one, even without haggling over the price.

The addition of the 6spd ATX to the lineup is also going to kill the resell value of all the 5spd ATX's...who is gonna want the old 5spd Jatco when there is a faster, better mileage, 6spd available?

A loaded 6s ATX, with all the frills, is worth about 17k at 15k miles. (Thats with every option).

Well Im not really into used cars I only buy new as stupid/odd some people find it... And im the proud new owner of an 04 mazda 6... switched over from an evo for cheaper insurance and payments. not to mention the LACK of WARRANTY Coverage on an Mostly UNMODDED Vehicle

I agree with the point of the 03 thru 04 auto tranny V6 mazda 6's are going to have horrible resale value due to the new 6 speed auto 05. But I dont really care cause I bought a manual tranny and I am loving it.

Man you just switched over from an evo? s***. You should have just asked on a forum. I'm sure necessity would have swapped you :).

Mikey,

The MTX's have the lowest resell value of all :(. The big keeps for resell value are...

1) Automatic Tranny
2) Leather
3) Sunroof

Pretty much everything else has little if no overall effect on resale value. MTX's usually have the poorest (at least in US) cause 98% of the population doesn't know how to work one.

But resell value isn't really why u buy a car. And I've got a 6s mtx too now, and I love it :).

The EVO was fun and is a great car if you have to backup funds icase something breaks even when you are under warranty. and the 6 is just more of a car for what im also going to be doing business wise. I will be breaking into realestate and the evo is not anywhere good for that in my mind. Maybe in a few years when i make some good cash money the skyline will be here which is what i really want....

And the 6 im getting wont be a freakin boring silver like the EVO. I opted for the Blazing copper (rockon)

I dont have the ATX which I dont give a s*** for but I do have leather sun roof, auto climate control, but heaters, etc etc. My car is a late 2004 model SPORT. I dont care much for resale value, what counts is that I love the car. And the resale values on Mazdas are pretty high in Qubec, in fact, Mazda sells more cars than any other car manufacturer in Qubec alone, in Canada they are #5 which is really good, Nissan comes right after them.
