IIHS: Mazda CX-9 had zero driver deaths between 2012 and 2015

Holy Hell, Hyundai Accent should be avoided at all costs, most deaths per accident.

Only 3 SUV's on that list with 0 deaths, CX-9 / Jeep Cherokee / VW Tiguan.

It's more likely a case of small car gets hit by big car. If a Chevy Suburban and a Hyundai Accent crash head on at 45 mph, chances are the greater mass of the Chevy will obliterate the Hyundai. In countries with relatively cheap gas and wide open spaces, like the USA, big cars dominate the market. In countries where gas is expensive, and space is at a premium, like South Korea, Japan and most of Europe, small cars dominate. It's kind of like hitting a train in your CX-9, the train is going to win.

Yep, no shocker there.

When my wife got pregnant last year, the first thing we did was trade in her 2010 Acccent for a 2016 CX-5.

That analysis is very basic. While vehicle size plays a big role, there are many more factors at play: mileage/year, city vs country roads, daily commute vs weekend car, weather etc... Besides the small car vs big SUV matchup you cannot make too many conclusions here.

The CX9 FWD has zero fatalities and the CX9 AWD has 13. Do the AWD crash in snowy/icy conditions?

Stay clear of any Titan 4WD on the road, that one really stands out.
