If you didn't have your P5 what would you have?

I think it might be time to retire the colonel. At least from my ranks.

The wagon really spoiled me and I need something similar with similar gas mileage and I don't have much money to spend. Probably $7 grand or so. We're trying to go no payment. I'd like to go no maintenance.

Any suggestions?

I'm thinking Vibe/Matrix. I want to go back to auto so the wife can drive it too. Can't seem to find a 5 in my area and the 3's haven't dropped to that price yet. The caliber's are so-so. No to PT and the HHR. The Malibu Maxx's are kinda cool but not many around either.

Speaking from a practical/economical point of view, it sounds like a simple Matrix/Vibe would be more fitting, the fact that they're plentiful is a plus for choice and price.

the new lancer sport wagon, a subi wrx sport wagon, a vw wagon, a mazda6 wagon (almost got that instead of my p5). Minivans haul ass lol, and the vw 4 door hatch GTI

I'd like to find a Mazda6 wagon but those are as hard to find as the TDI wagons. Most mini-vans don't get the gas mileage.

i had a vibe as a rental car when my p5 was hit recently. it was an 09' or 10'. i hated the look of it because the thing is mostly door, and the interior looked like it was not a drivers car, seemed too futuristic to me, like the car was in charge more.

the older ones look a lot nicer, and so do the old matrix.

but seriously, if you can find one, go for an element, tons of space and perfect for any outdoor stuff, and awd

One of my friend bought a brand new Suzuki SX4, manual AWD, and he loves it!

He was driving a 1998 civic coupe for 6-7 years before having this! He says it's night and day!

Well I picked up an 05 Vibe. It's not as peppy/spirited as the p5 but I guess I'll learn to live with it.

Now I just have to decide if I should pull some peices off of it before I sell it. (Like my set of Dave B rings).

I think it would be stupid not to sell a set of DaveB's considering their current value.

Hope you enjoy the Vibe, it's going to be a pain in the ass to find Pontiac parts here within the next few years.

I would love Dave B's but it's ridiculous that a part that originally started at $20 is now selling for $100.

I'll be pulling mine off either tonight or tomorrow then! I have to get new tires on the vibe!

The p5 was using more and more oil. 240,000 miles on it. There's a tick but I don't know what it's from. Definitely sounds like it's on top. I've put the stethoscope on it and it still sounds like it's coming from up top. Could be an injector. Could be valvetrain. Could be a ring, or a bearing or none of them. I drive alot and I don't think it was smart to be tossing money into the car for as much driving as I do.

I don't have a short commute. The car still is getting close to 30 mpg. It's paid for itself in that respect.
