I have a 2001 Protege LX with a 2.0 liter engine and manual transmission with approximately 76,800 miles on it. This evening while I was waiting at a stop light, I noticed that the tach needle was moving up and down between the normal idle and 0 RPM. I had the EGR valve, coil, timing belt, serpetine belts, water pump and catalytic converter replaced last fall at the dealership along with a tune-up, cooling system flush and fuel induction service. Right now I have not quite 3/4 of a tank of gas. What could be the problem?
