Nice setup!

Following on from the post about air/water intercooler - did the blower unit itself get much heatsoak? Do you think there would be any significant benefit in using any kind of intercooler? Any intake temp data?

Cheers :)

Not to threadjack but, Meth injection is far better at cooling than a intercooler. However, intercoolers are way more "set it and forget it" than Meth. Who wants to constantly worry about having enough methanol ?

if I kept with it and kept seeing boost, I could keep intake temps around 105 degrees, if I let it sit for to long it would heat up to about 140 degrees, which is still pretty decent these are numbers from my megasquirts. you would be suprised at how hot most cars get anyways, these temps are pretty good

personally I would do both intercooler and water injection, because the water injection allows for more advance timing because it rasies the octain

I used -30 windsheild washer fluid right out of my window washer tank, it was equip with a low level light too :) if you look at the ingreadents, its methonal, water, and blue die :)

It works but its not recommended.
Have u ever seen the crusty residue around wiper nozzles?

Supercharged protege would be SICK.

If I hadn't of just started building my kit, I would of got this for sure.

Can anyone chime in on how this would be tuned if not using the Megasquirt ? I'm not sure about tuning something that makes boost pressure almost everywhere in the powerband. I'm probably missing something.

really? okay ms uses a chart, kpa (air pressure) as your y axis, and rpms as your x axis,

so as you boost the map just gos to a different square, rpms climb as you stay in a kpa range, as long as you add fuel to the entire map for boost, then it does not matter what rpms your at, just as they climb it adds more fuel.

a maf system is easier, it just records the amount of air coming in and checks the rpms and adds fuel, so if you get a tone of air (boots) in low rpm, the ecu compensates for it. the thing to remember is boost is boost, no matter what rpm range

I wanna see somebody twin charge!!!!

I'm really interested, just doesn't seem feasible though. I'd have to buy this kit, then brand new full exhaust for a NA, exhaust cut-out, then get a EMS that can properly tune closed loop. Car would be down for another month... GL, if I didn't just blow $1,500 rebuilding my tranny for the 2nd time in 10 months I'd be all over it.

we can twincharge your ride!!!

thats right, make your turbo feed the supercharger, the charger will give you instant boost, then your turbo kicks on for more!!!!

and megasquirts is open loop, and you can set it to begin closed loop at any kpa/boost pressure!!!

I can appreciate the enthusiasm, however, these cars are problematic enough with just a turbo. The last thing I need is a bunch of low-end torque for this b****y little tranmission.

Is the clutch on the Eaton based off an electrical switch? If so, did you have setup in any way or did it basically run as if it didnt have a clutch?

Do you let the stock computer control the idle? If so, how does having a small amount of boost at idle RPMs affect vac signals and therefore the idle speed and roughness?

I would be interested in this as I like the setup (and like the idea of a s/c FS-DE), but would prolly fall over at the cost of shipping from the States overseas :( - even if I could just get the Eaton, brackets, pulley and belt.
