So get this guys, i mentioned earlier that my check engine light came on! Well i decided to go check my oil level, and to my surprise there was no oil!!!!!!

3500 km and no oil in my brand new car 6 weeks old.-

Does anyone know of mazdas lemon policies or what the legal time is for getting my money back or trade in on a new car????

Lemon law would not apply if you had no oil in your engine. Lemon law is mor for people who have had repeditive ploblems with their new car. IE. More than 3 problems withing a certain amount of time...

well actually im from canada ,well ontario more specifically and we have no lemon laws. Not to say we are not prtected in some way. This will be the 4 th visit to mazda in 6 weeks. 1st visit - something to do with the suspention. 2nd visit - alignment, 3rd visit fuel pump now my fourth is for tomorrow morning to find out why my car is burning oil. The car, as i said is 6 weeks old 3500 km. I think that four visits is more then enough to qualify me for something.

ouch.... i would tell your dealership to start the process to get you a new car... if not i would deffinatly write letters to mazda north america/canada and explain all your problems with proof of all the misshaps, and its okay to show a lil frustration in the letter but keep it professional just get your issues across (especially the oil... that shiat aint right)

Or better yet, just keep driving it until it just breaks down...That seems like the only way mazda would replace or fix anything these days. It's not your fault that the dealership didn't put in the correct amount of oil when you bought it.

im wondering you think they could actually be that stupid not to put the right amount of oil in the damb thing? The idiots still want me to drive it in tomorrow morning and they told me to throw a jug of 5w 20 in it but being 11pm here in toronto no gas station sells 5w 20 its all 5w 30 and they warned me not to put the 5w 30 in the bastard, sounds like a loose loose situation for me. Good thing i only have to pay for it for the next 5 years of my life.

correct me if i'm wrong but shouldn't the engine have seized if there was no oil in the pan?

well there is probably like 1.5qts in the thing, it used to happen with my old celica, the valve guides were leaking oil and once or twice the oil light came one, noticed the dipstick came out almost dry, once it may have been dry, but the car still had like 1 or so qt in it, because it only need 3 qts to get back to normal level. Also happened to a bmw i used to own. Its amazing how little oil a car will run with, granted i would not drive far or hard with little oil....

Mazda mechanics are sloppy, last oil change the mechanic got oil all over the engine. By the time I parked my car at home the oil was burning so hot around the engine that the whole car was covered in smoke coming from under the dront end of the car and the hood.

Generally that's only true if all four visits were for the same problem.

I wouldn't put any oil in it. If they won't come get it, drive it in and let them worry about it. If it seizes up on the way, so much the better. They can't blame you since you haven't had any oil changes yet.

I wouldn't put oil in it because @ that point they could try to be dicks about it & say "well it looks like theres plenty of oil in here" or further dick you over because they cant prove there was little oil in it because you've added more.

I'm confused...is it burning oil or consuming it? Every new car absorbs oil for the first 5000KM. My wife's neon absorbed a 1.5L in 3000km... If it is burning oil you should be clouded by a blue smoke coming from the exhaust.

By no means am I trying to state the obvious or make anyone feel stupid, but I've noticed that without fail, the first time I check my oil after the car has sat a while, the dipstick registers NO OIL. I freaked out the first time I saw that, but when I re-insert and look again, it's full. I have no idea what causes this phenomenon, as my garage floor is totally level. I don't know if you checked it more than once, but if you didn't, give it a second look with more than one insertion. For your car to have burned 4 quarts of oil would have at least caused very noticable blue smoke, and probalby poor performance. I just want you to be SURE of what you're saying to Mazda before you go off half-cocked and find out that you should have checked your dipstick twice. Good luck..let us know what's going on. That's a LOT of oil to go thru in 3500KM.

P.S. If you determine without doubt that it has no / very little oil in it, I would add oil to fill it up, and take the empty containers to the dealership with you. Oil, like tires, brakes, etc are maintenance items and if you tell them you KNEW you were low on oil and drove it anyway, they may deny the claim if your engine fries. The empty containers are proof enough that the car burns 3-4 quarts of oil every 3500KM, which they should deem excessive and replace your engine.

Call roadside assistance, tell them your car has no oil and have them tow it to the dealer so the mechanics can have a look.

Well thanx for the advice guys I took it in and well they are looking into it. They gave me a great big SUV to use in the mean time so im happy.
