WHO/WHERE/HOW???....can i get a 1.8L engine......and for how much??

i would really like one....but if its outta my price range...then ill stick with what i've got (like a lot of us do (thumb) )

get a BPT(1.8 turbo 180hp) $700-800 from www.flashoptions.com with enigine, trans, wiring harness, and ecu , or a B6T ( 1.6 turbo 128 hp) for around 500-600 ( from a mazda parts company like mazmart)

easy guys i was kidding lol but i am still learning about all the mazda options there are out there with motor swaps and such... i have nissan, VW, ford, chevy, toyota, and subaru all pretty much down pat but im still learnign about the mazda stuff

would you sleave the 1.8L to a 1.7L and drop a turbo on it, or keep it N/A and tune the hell out of it?

The BP is like Mazdas SR20...it was made to be boosted. Forged crank and rods, oil squirters, main bearing support plate, iron block, etc. It can handle 300whp all day long on stock internals, and people have had it up to 399 before anything broke....

don't want to sound cocky, but thats like my motor (1.8T from VW) stock internals have been tested to take up to 425 HP before anything went bad....

define "bad" here, people. how long did each engine last with what amount of power being applied for how long a period of time using what parts from what sources? this is an apples to oranges argument. Flyin Miata ran 15 to 20 psi (pure accident) on stock everything on the Protege and nothing broke, but they only did it once. You could just keep cranking up the power until something breaks and then say "well at X hp is what this engine can sustain" when during all that time you could be accruing damage and not even knowing it.

by bad i mean anything as in internals not working correctly. and the 425hp working reliably.
